CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Lands in Nelson Land District for Sale by Public Auction.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Nelson, 19th December, 1933.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
will be offered for sale by public auction at the District
Lands and Survey Office, Nelson, on Tuesday, 23rd January,
1934, at 11 o’clock a.m., under the provisions of the Land
Act, 1924.
The lands in the First Schedule may be purchased for cash
only, the lands described in the Second Schedule may be
purchased for cash or on deferred payments.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.
TOWN LAND.
Murchison County.—St. Arnaud Township.
Section 1 : Area, 1 acre 1 rood 6·9 perches. Upset price, £12.
Section 6 : Area, 2 acres 1 rood 3·1 perches. Upset price, £10.
Section 12 : Area, 2 roods 36 perches. Upset price, £7.
Section 41 : Area, 1 acre. Upset price, £5.
St. Arnaud Township is situated at the northern end of
Lake Rotoiti, and is about five miles from Tophouse, the
locality being an ideal one for campers and sportsmen. Access
is from Glenhope, about seventeen miles distant by a fair
road; or from Kohatu about thirty-three miles distant, via
Tophouse. The town is also accessible from Blenheim,
about seventy miles distant, via the Wairau Valley.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Waimea County.—Waimea Survey District.
PART Section 34, Block III : Area, 8 acres 3 roods 27 perches.
Upset price, £50.
This section is situated on Quarantine Road, two miles and
a half from Tahunanui Post-office and School, four miles
from Port Nelson Railway-station, ten miles from Bright-
water Saleyards. Cream is collected one mile and a half
from the property. Access is by 60 chains of metalled road,
40 chains of dray road (not metalled), and 20 chains of unformed
road from Tahunanui. The area is situated a few feet above
sea-level and comprises level undulating sand-dunes in fair
grass. Soil is of fair quality but there is no water, and the
property, which is not subdivided, is suitable only for grazing
or for a seaside residence.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Buller County.—Oparara Survey District.
Section 33, Block XIV : Area, 21 acres 0 roods 14 perches.
Upset price, £20.
This section is situated on the Karamea–Umere Road,
about one mile and a half from Market Cross Post-office,
two miles from Karamea School, one mile and a half from
Karamea Dairy Factory, and thirty-four miles from Mokihinui
Railway-station. Access is by formed and metalled road
from Karamea. The area, which comprises fair soil, is flat
and is well watered. About 2 acres burnt, now in fern and
blackberry, balance being in natural state—standing bush.
The section is too small for a separate holding and is suitable
only for grazing or as a homestead site. No improvements
on the area.

Settlement Land in Wellington Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

Wellington, 19th December, 1933.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land
will be offered for sale by public auction for cash or
on deferred payments at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Wellington, on Wednesday, 24th January, 1934, at 2.30 o’clock
p.m., under the provisions of the Lands for Settlements
Act, 1925.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Makara County.—Belmont Survey District.—Hawtrey Settlement.
SECTIONS 17, 18, 20, 22, 24, and 26, Block IV : Area, 2 acres
2 roods 5·7 perches. Upset price, £545.
This property is situated in the Township of Johnsonville,
about half a mile from the railway-station, post-office, and
school. Buildings consist of a three-roomed bungalow and
out-buildings.
Conditions of sale and full particulars may be obtained

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICES.
Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.
State Forest Service,
Palmerston North, 18th December, 1933.
NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the
purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will
close at the office of the State Forest Service, Palmerston
North, at 4 o’clock p.m. on Friday, the 19th January, 1934.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON CONSERVATION REGION.—GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT.
ALL the milling-timber on that area, containing 138½ acres,
known as Lot I (State forest No. 24), Blocks VII and VIII,
Umutoti Survey District, situated about three miles from
Umutoti Township.
The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 198,500, or
in board feet 1,373,000, made up as follows :—

Upset Price : £1,770.
Time for removal of Timber : Two years and a half.
Terms of Payment.
A marked cheque for one-tenth of the amount tendered,
together with £1 1s. license fee, must accompany the tender,
and the balance of the purchase-money shall be paid by
fifteen equal monthly instalments, the first of which shall
be paid three months after the date of acceptance of tender.
Terms and Conditions.

All instalment-payments shall be secured by an “on
demand” promissory note made and endorsed to the satis-
faction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at
the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank
overdraft rates will be charged if the note is overdue from
the date of maturity to the date of payment. -
The right to cut and remove the timber will be sold in
accordance with the provisions of the Forests Act, 1921–22,
the regulations in force thereunder, and these conditions. -
The aforementioned quality, quantity, and kind as to
the said timber shall be taken as sufficiently accurate for
the purposes of this sale, and no contract for the purchase
shall be voidable, nor shall the successful purchaser be en-
titled to any abatement in price, by reason of the said timber
being of less quantity, quality, or kind as stated herein, or in
any advertisement having reference to the said timber. -
A return, verified by affidavit, giving the number of
logs cut of each species and their contents must be made
quarterly by the licensee on the last days of March, June,
September, and December, respectively, in each year. A
