Classification of Roads in Opotiki County.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations 1932, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Transport, do hereby declare that the roads described in the Schedule hereto, and situated in the Opotiki County, shall belong to the respective classes of roads shown in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

OPOTIKI COUNTY.

Road classified in Class Three: Available for the use thereon of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle) which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 6½ tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 10 tons:—

Gisborne—Whakatane, via Motu Main Highway No. 15. (All that portion from Opotiki Borough Boundary to Whakatane County Boundary.)

Roads classified in Class Four: Available for the use thereon of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle) which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 4½ tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 6½ tons:—

Main Highways.

Gisborne—Whakatane, via Motu Main Highway No. 15. (All that portion from Waikohu County Boundary to Opotiki Borough Boundary.)

Opotiki—East Cape Main Highway No. 26. (All that portion within Opotiki County.)

Gisborne—Opotiki, via Waiorea Main Highway No. 323. (All that portion within Opotiki County.)

County Roads.

Coast Road (from termination of Main Highway No. 26 at the western bank of the Raukokore River to the Matakaoa County Boundary), Gabriel’s Gully Road, Gow’s Road, Hospital and Crooked Road (that portion commencing at the junction with Woodlands Road and ending at McCarthy’s Road at Black’s Corner), Kutaroro to Kutarere Wharf Road, Otara Road (from Main Highway No. 323 to Tutaeotoko Stream), Paerata Road (from Main Highway No. 15 to junction with Verrall’s Road), Racecourse Road (from Otara Road to Otara East Bridge), Tableland Road, Tirohanga Road, Wainui—Matakeripu Road, Waiotahi Road, Warrington Road, Woodlands Road (from Waiorea Bridge to Mulhern’s Homestead).

Roads classified in Class Five: Available for the use thereon of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle) which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 3 tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle which, with the load it is carrying, weighs not more than 4½ tons:—

County Roads.

Dinadale’s Road, Keen’s Road, Kowhai Road, Paerata Road (from junction with Verrall’s Road southward), Pakihi Road, Peti Peti Road, Philip Road, Picard’s Road, Reserve Road, Takaputahi Road, Te Whaiti Road, Tutaeotoko Road, Verrall’s Road, Waiana Block Access Road, Whinray—Maromoko Road, Whitikan Road.

Approving of Testing Officer under the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1932.

IN terms of Regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers’ Regulations, 1931, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Transport, do hereby approve, until further notice, of the person named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officer under the said regulations for the local authority described in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

Certificate and Declaration of Execution of Criminal.

THE following certificate and declaration are published in conformity with the provisions of the Crimes Act, 1908.

CERTIFICATE.

I, HAMILTON ANDREW HUGH GILMER, the Medical Officer in attendance at the execution of George Edward James, at the prison at Wellington, do hereby certify and declare that I have this day witnessed the execution of the said George Edward James at the said prison; and I do further certify and declare that the said George Edward James was, in pursuance of the sentence of the Supreme Court, hanged by the neck until his body was dead.

Given under my hand, this 15th day of December, 1933, at the prison at Wellington.

DECLARATION.

We do hereby testify and declare that we have this day been present when the extreme penalty of the law was carried into execution on the body of George Edward James, convicted at the Criminal Sittings of the Supreme Court held at Wellington on the 24th day of October last and sentenced to death, and that the said George Edward James was, in pursuance of the said sentence, hanged by the neck until his body was dead.

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the persons whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder are engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of either of the said persons shall be issued and that no postal packet addressed to either of the said persons (either by her own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to either of the addresses in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
