Alterations to the Scales of Charges upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling it under the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, the Government Railways Board hereby resolves to make the following alterations in the General Scale of Charges made on the 4th day of November, 1931, and published in the Gazette of the 13th day of November, 1931, and to the Goods—Local Rates Scale of Charges made on the 19th day of October, 1933, and published in the Gazette of the 26th day of October, 1933, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic.

PASSENGERS.

  1. Free School Season Tickets.

By omitting from paragraph 1 the following :—

Free second-class season tickets, available for each standard term of fourteen weeks as notified by the Education Department, may be issued to school pupils as hereinafter set forth, between the ages of 5 years and 10 years residing at a distance of not less than 2 miles from the school, and to school pupils of 10 years of age and over, but not exceeding 19 years of age, residing at a distance of not less than 3 miles from the school. The tickets will be available for distances not exceeding 60 miles, and are issuable as follows :—

And substituting the following :—

Free second-class season tickets, available for each standard term of fourteen weeks as notified by the Education Department may be issued to school pupils as hereinafter set forth, between the ages of 6 years and 10 years, residing at a distance of not less than 2 miles from the school and to school pupils of 10 years of age and over, but not exceeding 19 years of age, residing at a distance of not less than 3 miles from the school : Provided that a pupil who attains the age of 6 years in any term or in the holidays immediately following it may under like conditions receive a free school season ticket at any time during the first four weeks of that term. The tickets will be available for distances not exceeding 60 miles, and are issuable as follows :—

  1. Judges proceeding to Shows, Exhibitors, Attendants, Owners or Trainers travelling in Charge of Live-stock or Racehorses.

  2. JUDGES OF EXHIBITS PROCEEDING TO SHOWS.

Paragraph (1) :—

After the words “first-class tickets at the” delete the words “holiday excursion fares specified in Regulation 5,” and insert in lieu thereof “special excursion fares specified in Regulation 6.”

In the pro forma certificate delete the words “holiday excursion fare,” and insert in lieu thereof “special excursion fare.”

  1. EXHIBITORS OR ATTENDANTS TRAVELLING IN CHARGE OF LIVE-STOCK.

Paragraph (1) :—

In the first line delete “Holiday excursion tickets (Regulation 5),” and insert in lieu thereof “Special excursion tickets (Regulation 6).”

In the pro forma certificate delete the words “holiday excursion fare” and insert in lieu thereof “special excursion fare.”

  1. OWNERS OR TRAINERS TRAVELLING IN CHARGE OF RACEHORSES.

Paragraph (1) :—

In the first line delete “Holiday excursion tickets (Regulation 5),” and insert in lieu thereof “Special excursion tickets (Regulation 6).”

In the pro forma certificate delete the words “holiday excursion fares,” and insert in lieu thereof “special excursion fares.”

  1. Meetings of Religious Bodies, Friendly Societies, and Conferences.

Paragraph (1) :—

After the words “of the currency of the ticket in each case,” delete the words “at holiday excursion fares specified in Regulation 5,” and insert in lieu thereof “at special excursion fares specified in Regulation 6.”

In the pro forma certificate delete the words “holiday excursion fare” and “holiday excursion fares,” and insert in lieu thereof “special excursion fare” and “special excursion fares.”

Paragraph 5 : Delete the word “six,” and insert in lieu thereof the word “twenty.”

By adding new Regulation 31a :—

31a. Summer Schools for Instructional and Recreational Purposes and Camps organized by Religious Organizations.

Persons travelling to attend summer schools for instructional and recreational purposes and camps organized by religious bodies as may be approved by the General Manager may be granted tickets, available for return for one month from date of commencement of the currency of the ticket in each case, at special
