Open Season for Moose Shooting, Southland Acclimatization
District (Fiordland National Park).

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Adam Hamilton,
Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of March, 1933,
to the 30th day of April, 1933 (both days inclusive), to be an
open season in that portion of the Southland Acclimatization
District, described in the First Schedule hereto for the taking
or killing of the following imported game—viz., moose bulls
and cows—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. Licenses to take or kill moose bulls and cows may be
    issued by the Chief Postmaster, Invercargill, on the recom-
    mendation of the Secretary of the Southland Acclimatization
    Society, on payment of a license fee of £10 in the form
    prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to
    the said Act and regulations thereunder, and this notification.
  2. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either
    himself or any attendant he may have with him.
  3. The fees paid for licenses issued pursuant to this notifica-
    tion shall, after deducting the cost of and incidental to the
    issue of such licenses, and any other expenses in connection
    therewith, be paid to the Department of Internal Affairs and
    the Southland Acclimatization Society in equal proportions.
  4. Any person committing a breach of any of these condi-
    tions is liable on conviction to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Southland Land District, bounded by
a line commencing at the head of Broughton Arm, Breaksea
Sound; thence by a right line to Mount Gladstone; thence
by a right line to Vincent Peak; thence by a right line to
Mount Solitary; thence by a right line running due west
to Nine Fathom Passage; thence by Dusky Sound and
Acheron Passage and Breaksea Sound to the head of Broughton
Arm, the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

License to take or kill Imported Game (Moose).

, of , having this day paid the sum of £10,
is hereby authorized to take or kill moose bulls and cows in
the area described in the endorsement hereon from the 1st
day of March, 1933, to the 30th day of April, 1933 (both days
inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection
and Game Act, 1921-22, and all regulations and notifications
affecting moose made thereunder and in force within the said
area.

Open Seasons for Red Deer Shooting in Portion of Southland
Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Adam Hamilton,
Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of March, 1933,
to the 30th day of April, 1933 (both days inclusive), to be an
open season in that portion of the Southland Acclimatization
District described in the First Schedule hereto for the taking
or killing of the following imported game—viz., red deer
stags and hinds—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

  1. Licenses to take or kill red deer stags and hinds may be
    issued by the Chief Postmaster at Invercargill on the recom-
    mendation of the Secretary of the Southland Acclimatization
    Society on payment of a license fee of £1 1s., and shall be
    generally in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule
    hereto, and shall be subject to the said Act and the regulations
    thereunder and to this notification.

  2. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either
    himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  3. Nothing in any license to take or kill red deer stags and
    hinds shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red
    deer stags or hinds on lands actually and exclusively used
    by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization
    purposes or on any sanctuary or public domain, nor shall
    authorize the holder thereof to enter any State forest for the
    purpose of taking or killing red deer stags or hinds without
    the consent of the Conservator of Forests at Invercargill
    first had and obtained.

  4. Any person committing a breach of any of these con-
    ditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Southland Land District, bounded by a
line commencing at a point on the shore of South Fiord,
Lake Te Anau, due north of Mount Maury; thence easterly
and southerly generally along the shore of Lake Te Anau to
the Waiau River; thence down that river to Lake Manapouri;
thence by Lake Manapouri to the Waiau River;
thence down the Waiau River to its confluence with the
Monowai River; thence up the Monowai River to a point
due north of Dean Hill; thence by a right line to Dean Hill;
thence by a right line passing through Oblong Hill to the shore
of Lake Hauroko; thence by Lake Hauroko to the Wai-
raurahiri River; thence down that river to a point due west
of Blue Cliff (Te Waewae Bay); thence by a right line to the
sea-coast at Blue Cliff; thence by the sea to Preservation
Inlet; thence by Preservation Inlet and Long Sound to
Richard Burn; thence by a right line to the summit of the
watershed between Longburn and Princess Burn; thence by a
right line to Cone Peak; thence by a right line passing
through End Peak to Lake Hauroko; thence across Lake
Hauroko to the western watershed of Hauroko Burn; thence
by that watershed to the summit of the Merrie Range; thence
by a right line to Vincent Peak; thence by a right line to
Mount Memphis; thence by a line due north to the Spey
River and down the Spey River to the western arm of Lake
Manapouri; thence by the western and northern arms of
Lake Manapouri to Freeman Burn; thence by Freeman Burn
to its source; thence by a right line to Mount Maury; thence
by a right line due north to the shore of South Fiord, Lake
Te Anau, the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

License to take or kill Imported Game (Deer).

, of , having this day paid the sum of one
pound one shilling (£1 1s.), is hereby authorized to take or kill
red deer stags and hinds within that portion of the Southland
Acclimatization District, described in the endorsement hereon,
from the 1st day of March, 1933, to the 30th day of April,
1933 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the
Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, and all regula-
tions and notifications affecting red deer stags and hinds
made thereunder and in force within the said district.

This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take
or kill red deer stags or hinds on lands actually and exclusively
used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimati-
tion purposes, or on any public domain, nor does it authorize
the holder thereof to enter any State forest for the purpose of
taking or killing red deer stags and hinds without the consent
of the Conservator of Forests first had and obtained.
