Land in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Public Tender.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 17th October, 1933.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be offered for lease by public tender—written tenders, marked on the outside “Tender for Cheviot Area,” will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to noon on Monday, 13th November, 1933, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—CHEVIOT COUNTY.—CHEVIOT SURVEY DISTRICT.
SECTIONS 40 and 41 and open portions of Scenic Reserve 3666, Block V: Area, 410 acres (approx.).
Situated at mouth of Waiau River on north bank, access being by way of the Waiau river-bed from Parnassus or Spotswood. The river-bed is the only outlet for wheeled traffic and can be used only when river is low, a strong three-horse team being required to cart out wool. The area comprises open hill country and flat, carrying good tussock, native and English grasses and fern on faces. Suitable sheep and cattle grazing.
Stock access: All stock have to be taken across the river by wire rope and punt near mouth of river and landed on south bank on Cheviot side, thence by unformed road a distance of about five miles before striking Caverhill metal road. Carrying-capacity about 270 breeding-ewes and 80 dry sheep. Improvements now on the area offered and remaining the property of the Crown comprise 100 chains boundary and subdivisional fencing, wool-shed, two-roomed hut, dip, and yards.
The license will be issued subject to an easement in favour of the owner or occupier of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Vol. 408, folio 126 (Canterbury Registry).
Special Condition.—The successful tenderer will be required to erect a barbed-wire fence to prevent cattle from straying into bush on scenic reserve; otherwise no cattle to be grazed on area.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be offered for sale by public auction for cash at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, on Tuesday, 21st November, 1933, at 2.30 o’clock p.m., under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—TOWN LAND.—TOWN OF SOUTH RAKAIA.
SECTIONS 129 and 131, being Reserve 1664, Town of South Rakaia, Block XIII, Rakaia Survey District: Area, 2 roods. Upset price, £50.
This is a level corner section with frontage to Bridge Street and South Rakaia Road West, grassed and fenced. No sewerage or water-supply. Electric light and telephone are available.
