Appointments in the Public Service.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—
Edward Pohau Ellison,
to be a Commissioner of the High Court of the Cook Islands as provided by sections 103 and 104 of the Cook Islands Act, 1915, as from the 20th day of October, 1932.
John Ronald Wink,
to be Deputy-Registrar at Masterton of the Supreme Court of New Zealand for the purposes of the Judicature Act, 1908, as from the 20th day of October, 1932.
Thomas Morgan,
to be the Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Kaipara for the purposes of the Electoral Act, 1927, as from the 1st day of November, 1932.

The Rural Intermediate Credit Act, 1927.—Appointment of District Intermediate Credit Supervisors and Chairmen of District Boards.
IT is hereby notified for public information that the Rural Intermediate Credit Board, acting in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon it by section 14 of the Rural Intermediate Credit Act, 1927, and of all other powers and authorities it in that behalf enabling, has appointed
Alexander Bell,
District Public Trustee, Nelson, to be District Intermediate Credit Supervisor for the Nelson Rural Intermediate Credit District in succession to John Fitz-Gerald; and has appointed
Daniel Scannell,
District Public Trustee, Greymouth, to be District Intermediate Credit Supervisor for the Westland Rural Intermediate Credit District in succession to Alexander Bell.
And it is further notified that the Rural Intermediate Credit Board, acting in pursuance and exercise of the power conferred on it by paragraph 10 of the regulations made under the said Act, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 22nd day of December, 1927, and of all other powers it in that behalf enabling, has appointed the said
Alexander Bell
to be Chairman of the Nelson District Rural Intermediate Credit Board in succession to the said John Fitz-Gerald; and has appointed the said
Daniel Scannell
to be Chairman of the Westland District Rural Intermediate Credit Board in succession to the said Alexander Bell.
The appointment of Alexander Bell took effect as from the 1st day of April, 1932, and the appointment of Daniel Scannell took effect as from the 21st day of March, 1932.

Classification of Roads in Patangata County.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations, 1932, I, Ethelbert Alfred Ransom, Acting Minister of Transport, do hereby declare that the roads described in the Schedule hereto, and situated in the Patangata County, shall belong to the respective classes of roads shown in the said Schedule.

ROADS classified in Class Three: Available for the use thereon of any heavy motor-vehicle (other than a multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle) which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 6½ tons, or any multi-axled heavy motor-vehicle which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 10 tons:—

Wairere Electric-power Board.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority.
In the matter of Section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.
WHEREAS the Wairere Electric-power Board has been duly authorized to borrow by way of special loan the sum of three thousand eight hundred and fifty pounds (£3,850) for reticulation purposes and expenses incidental thereto, and the consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the said loan was given by Order in Council made on the 17th day of December, 1929, and published in the Gazette on the 19th day of the same month, at page 3291:
And whereas in respect of the said sum of three thousand eight hundred and fifty pounds (£3,850), there has been raised and borrowed for the purposes aforesaid the sum of three thousand eight hundred pounds (£3,800), and it has not been found necessary to borrow the whole of the amount so authorized:
And whereas the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Wairere Electric-power Board in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority in so far as it has not been exercised:
Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, as amended by section 46 of the Finance Act, 1931 (No. 4), and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, George William Forbes, Acting Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Wairere Electric-power Board to borrow, under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to, the sum of fifty pounds (£50), being the amount in respect of which the said loan authority has not been exercised: Provided always that this cancellation is without prejudice to the validity in all respects of the loan of three thousand eight hundred pounds (£3,800) already borrowed pursuant to the said loan authority.
