Land in Southland Land District for Selection on Optional Tenure.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Invercargill, 8th August, 1933.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned section is open for selection on optional tenure under the Land Act, 1924, and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, the 19th September, 1933.
Applicants should appear personally for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, the 21st September, 1933, at 10 o’clock a.m., but if any applicant is unable to attend he may be examined by any other Land Board or by any Commissioner of Crown Lands.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Southland County.—Otara Survey District.
(Exempt from payment of rent or interest for three years.)
SECTION 52, Block VI: Area, 420 acres. Capital value, £420. Deposit on deferred payments, £20; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £13. Renewable lease; half-yearly rent, £8 8s.
Situated about five miles by metalled road from Tokanui Railway-station and Dairy Factory and half a mile to Haldane School. Altitude approximately 300 ft. above sea-level. The land is of medium quality. Worked out bush-area suitable for dairying when cleared and grassed.
The tramway reserve is excluded from the section.
Special Condition.—After the payment of the deposit or first half-year’s rent, as the case may be, has been made no further interest or rent will be payable for a period of three years.

Wallace County.—Jacobs River Hundred.
SECTION 45, Block VIII: Area, 299 acres 1 rood 18 perches. Capital value, £425. Deposit on deferred payments, £25; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £13. Renewable lease; half-yearly rent, £8 10s.
Weighted with £315 18s. 4d. for improvements, consisting of hut, fencing, and 120 acres felled, burnt, and surface-sown. This sum may be paid in cash or by cash deposit of £15 18s. 4d., and the balance secured on mortgage payable over a period of thirty-four years and a half (interest 5½ per cent.) by half-yearly instalments of £9 15s.
The section, which is situated two miles by metalled road from Fairfax Post-office, Railway-station, and Dairy Factory, comprises flat spurs somewhat broken by steeper gullies. The altitude ranges from 250 ft. to 450 ft. above sea-level. The land is suitable for grazing and, to a limited extent, dairying. Watered by running streams.
Special Condition.—After payment of half-year’s rent, lease fee, and deposit on improvements, remission of one year’s rent and one year’s interest payments under the mortgage will be considered conditional upon permanent improvements to value of £50 being effected during this period.
