Appointment in the Public Service.

Office of the Public Service Commissioner,

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointment in the Public Service:—

Berkeley Lionel Dallard, Esquire,

to be Under-Secretary of Justice, Registrar-General for the purposes of the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1924, and Registrar-General for the purposes of the Marriage Act, 1908, as from the 1st day of June, 1933.

Appointments in the Public Service.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—

Constable Langley Howard Shearman

to be Clerk and Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Waverley for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, as from the 10th day of May, 1933;

William Shore Ogier

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Blackball, as from the 24th day of May, 1933;

Daniel Lynch

to be Registrar of Births and Deaths for the District of Gore at Riversdale, as from the 1st day of July, 1933.

Rangiora Borough Council.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority.

In the matter of section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WHEREAS the Rangiora Borough Council has been duly authorized to borrow by way of special loan the sum of twenty-eight thousand three hundred pounds (£28,300) for installing a sewerage system, and the consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the said loan was given by Order in Council made on the 17th day of June, 1929, and published in the Gazette on the 20th day of the same month, at page 1706:

And whereas in respect of the said sum of £28,300 it has not been found necessary to borrow the whole of the amount so authorized:

And whereas the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Rangiora Borough Council in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority to the extent of three thousand eight hundred pounds (£3,800) not exercised:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, as amended by section 46 of the Finance Act, 1931 (No. 4), and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Rangiora Borough Council to borrow, under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to, the sum of three thousand eight hundred pounds (£3,800), being an amount in respect of which the said loan authority has not been exercised: Provided always that this cancellation is without prejudice to the validity in all respects of the amount of the said loan already borrowed pursuant to the said loan authority.

Heathcote County Council.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority.

In the matter of section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WHEREAS the Heathcote County Council has been duly authorized to borrow by way of special loan the sum of three thousand five hundred pounds (£3,500) for connecting the county sewerage system with the Christchurch Drainage Board’s sewers, and the consent of the Governor-General in Council to the raising of the said loan was given by Order in Council made on the 18th day of December, 1931, and published in the Gazette on the 24th day of the same month, at page 3583:

And whereas it has not been found necessary to borrow the whole of the amount so authorized, and the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Heathcote County Council in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority to the extent of two hundred pounds (£200) not exercised:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, as amended by section 46 of the Finance Act, 1931 (No. 4), and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Heathcote County Council to borrow, under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to, the sum of two hundred pounds (£200), such amount not having been exercised: Provided always that this cancellation is without prejudice to the validity in all respects of the amount already borrowed pursuant to the said loan authority.

Portion of Northern Waiapu Consolidation Scheme confirmed.

In the matter of section 161 of the Native Land Act, 1931, and of an application for consolidation of Omaewa 1A 1 and other Blocks.

NOTICE is hereby given that a scheme of consolidation in part dated the 20th day of April, 1933, dealing with Pohooterangi and other Blocks as set out in the said scheme, having been prepared by the Native Land Court in accordance with the above-mentioned Act, and submitted under the seal of the said Court to the Native Minister for his approval, I, Apirana Turupa Ngata, as such Native Minister, being satisfied that the scheme so submitted is just and equitable and is in the public interest, do hereby confirm the portion of the said scheme of consolidation which was so submitted on the 20th day of April, 1933.

Dated this 24th day of May, 1933.

Rotoiti Development Scheme.

PURSUANT to the provisions in that behalf conferred upon me, I, Apirana Turupa Ngata, Native Minister, have decided to apply the provisions of subsection (3) of section 522 of the Native Land Act, 1931, to the lands set out in the Schedule hereunder, to be known as the Rotoiti Development Scheme, and hereby give notice of my intention accordingly.

No owner, except with the consent of the Native Minister, is entitled to exercise any rights of ownership in connection with the land affected so as to interfere with or obstruct the carrying-out of the said development scheme.

Dated at Wellington, this 6th day of June, 1933.

WHEREAS notice was published in the Gazette of the 25th September, 1930, of the Native Minister’s intention to apply the provisions of subsection (3) of section 23 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1929, to Te Ahikawariki and other Blocks and known as the Hokianga Development Scheme.

Now, therefore, I, the said Native Minister, do decide to apply the provisions of subsection (3) of section 522 of the Native Land Act, 1931, to the additional land mentioned in the Schedule hereto as a part of such scheme, and hereby give notice of my intention accordingly.
