Re PROPOSAL TO APPLY £35,120 AND £34,530 ON THE BALANCES OF THE LOAN-MONEYS RAISED UNDER THE WELLINGTON CITY WATER-SUPPLY LOAN, 1920, TO WATERWORKS PURPOSES OTHER THAN THOSE SPECIFIED BY THE LOAN.
The number of votes recorded for and against the above proposals at a poll held in the City of Wellington on the 3rd day of May, 1933, were as under:—

Appointing Saturday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Naseby.
WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Naseby was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, on the 3rd day of May, 1933 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Naseby has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough :
Now, therefore, I, Adam Hamilton, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, do hereby appoint Saturday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough.
Dated at Wellington, this 23rd day of May, 1933.

Appointing Wednesday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Waipukurau.
WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day in the Borough of Waipukurau was duly taken under the authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, on the 3rd day of May, 1933 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Waipukurau has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such poll were in favour of the appointment of Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough :
Now, therefore, I, Adam Hamilton, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, do hereby appoint Wednesday as the statutory closing-day in the said borough.

Proposed Revision of Customs-Tariff.
Office of the Minister of Customs,
Wellington, 18th May, 1933.
IT is hereby notified for public information that it is probable that the Customs Tariff will be revised during the next session of Parliament as a result of the report of the Customs Tariff Commission which has just been appointed.
The attention of all those interested is drawn to the following provisions of section 130 of the Customs Act, 1913 (as amended by the Customs Amendment Act, 1921):—
"130. (1) If, after any agreement is made (whether in New Zealand or elsewhere) for the sale of goods, any alteration takes place in the law relating to the liability of such goods to duty or in the rate or amount of such duty, then, in the absence of express written provision to the contrary, the agreement shall be deemed to be modified as follows:—
"(a) In the event of the alteration being a new or increased duty, the seller, after payment thereof, may add to the agreed price the difference caused by the alteration:
"(b) In the event of the alteration being the reduction of duty, the purchaser may deduct from the agreed price the difference between the amount of duty which the seller would have paid had the alteration not been made and the amount of duty actually paid by him:
"(c) In the event of the alteration being the abolition of the duty, the purchaser may deduct from the agreed price the duty which the seller would have paid had the alteration not been made.
"(2) When any such alteration of duties takes place so as to operate retrospectively from any date this section shall also apply retrospectively in like manner as from the same date.
"(3) Any money paid by a buyer to a seller in excess of the amount payable under this section may be recovered from the seller as money paid by mistake whether the error was one of fact or law.
"(4) All the provisions of this section with respect to an alteration of the law shall extend and apply to any alteration of the tariff by authority of the Governor-General in Council or by any other lawful authority."

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of Postal Correspondence.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having reasonable ground for supposing that the organization and person whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder are engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour of the said organization or person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said organization or person (either by its or her own or any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the first address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.
