Election of Members of Fire Boards by Insurance Companies.
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 26th April, 1933.
PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, the Fire
Brigades Amendment Act, 1932, and the rules made
thereunder, it is hereby notified that an election by the
insurance companies carrying on business in New Zealand of
members of the undermentioned Fire Boards will be held on
Monday, the 15th May, 1933, in the manner prescribed by
the said Acts and rules. The number of members to be
elected in the case of Wanganui, Wellington, Christchurch,
and Dunedin Fire Boards shall be three, in all others two
members :—

Prohibition of Issue of Money-orders and Transmission of
Postal Correspondence.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
having reasonable ground for supposing that the persons
whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule here-
under are engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or
scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 32 of the
Post and Telegraph Act, 1928, that no money-order in favour
of any of the said persons shall be issued, and that no postal
packet addressed to any of the said persons (either by their
own or any fictitious or assumed names), or addressed to any
of the addresses in the Schedule hereunder without a name,
shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of
New Zealand.

Agreement for Grant of Right of Way in favour of Alice Maud
Gill, of Whangamomona, Widow, and the Public Trustee
(as executor of Henry Gill, deceased) over Land in Heao
Survey District, taken for the Stratford Main Trunk Railway,
assented to.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the 13th day of
June, 1931, and published in the New Zealand Gazette
of the 18th day of the same month, all that piece of land
containing 2 acres 3 roods 34·2 perches, being part Section 11,
Block II, Heao Survey District, was taken for the purposes
of the Stratford Main Trunk Railway :
And whereas Alice Maud Gill, of Whangamomona, widow,
and the Public Trustee (as executor of Henry Gill, deceased)
were entitled to compensation in respect of their freehold
interest in the said land :
And whereas the Minister of Public Works agreed to grant
to the said Alice Maud Gill and the Public Trustee (as executor
of Henry Gill, deceased) a right of way over the land described
in the Schedule hereto as part satisfaction of the compensation
aforesaid, and to provide a workman’s cottage in satisfaction
of the residue of the said compensation :
And whereas the said Alice Maud Gill and the Public Trustee
(as executor of Henry Gill, deceased) agreed to accept such
grant and a workman’s cottage in satisfaction of the said
compensation :
Now, therefore, I, John Bitchener, Minister of Public Works,
do hereby give notice, in pursuance of section 97 of the Public
Works Act, 1928, that I assent to the above agreement.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land affected : 2 perches.
Being railway land (part Section 11), Block II, Heao Survey
District.
In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 85309,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at
Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

Notice to Mariners No. 16 of 1933.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 24th April, 1933.
NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—BAY OF PLENTY.
Whakatane.—Signal Station to be discontinued.
THE signal station near Whakatane Entrance, lat. 37° 57′ S.,
long. 177° 01′ E. (approx), will be discontinued on 30th April,
and will be dismantled at a later date.
After 30th April, vessels approaching the maximum draft
for working the port should not proceed inwards until informa-
tion as to the existing depths is received from the Harbour
Board launch, which will meet vessels outside the entrance.
If the launch does not come out it must be assumed that the
port is unworkable either from too much sea or insufficient
depths.
Vessels of lesser draft, if requiring similar information,
should call the launch by sounding three long blasts on the
whistle or exhibiting flag Z at the masthead.

Tauranga Harbour.—Corrections to Chart.
-
THE following non-existent buoys are to be expunged :
Black buoy with topmark, 040°, 580 yards from Sulphur
Point Spit ; red buoy, 050°, 160 yards from Sulphur Point
Spit ; red buoy, 196°, 370 yards from Stoney Point beacon. -
Mount Railway Wharf, about 4 cables from Pilot’s Bay.
This wharf, and a small wharf about 3½ cables southward of it,
have been demolished and are to be expunged.
Charts affected : (1)—(2)—2521.
Publications affected : (2) Admiralty List of Lights, Part VI,
1930, No. 3369 ; New Zealand Pilot, 1930 page 193 ; New
Zealand Nautical Almanac and Tide Tables, page 208, and plan
of harbour.
