a bonus of £4 10s. will be awarded if so recommended by the
Controller-General of Prisons.

  • When the maximum is reached an increase of 4s. 0½d. per week (female staff, 4s. 3½d. per week) may be granted
    for special aptitude or qualifications (subject to review each year) if so recommended by the Government Printer.
    † Subject to adjustment in terms of the National Expenditure Adjustment Act, 1932. § To be paid on a weekly basis.
    ‡ Single officers, £18 less (subject to adjustment in terms of the National Expenditure Adjustment Act, 1932).
    || Deduction from salary for residence or quarters provided. ** When the maximum is reached an increment
    of £13 10s. (subject to adjustment in terms of the National Expenditure Adjustment Act, 1932), may be granted
    to Warders of outstanding zeal and ability if so recommended by the Controller-General of Prisons.
