Special Order made by the Waipawa County Council altering Riding Boundaries.

Wellington, 2nd February, 1931.

THE following special order made by the Waipawa County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920.

Pursuant to section 100 of that Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 1st day of April, 1931, as the date on and from which such special order shall take effect.

WAIPAWA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Resolution (intended to take effect as a special order) altering the Boundaries of the Clinton and Takapau Ridings.

In exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Waipawa County Council resolves, by way of special order, as follows: The boundaries of the Clinton and Takapau Ridings of the County of Waipawa be altered to those as described in the Schedule hereto.

The alterations hereby made shall take effect on and after the 1st day of April, 1931.

SCHEDULE.

Clinton Riding.

Bounded towards the north generally by the Onga Riding, as described in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 22, of 28th March, 1929, from the summit of the Ruahine Range to a point in the middle of the Tukituki River in line with the western boundary of road intersecting Block 198, Ruataniwha Crown Grant District; thence towards the south-east generally by a line across the Tukituki River and by the road intersecting Blocks Nos. 198, 46, 263, 62, and 264 to the Tukipo River; thence across that river and by the road intersecting blocks Nos. 183, 188, 184, 191, and 60 to its junction with the road intersecting Sections Nos. 24 and 35 of Block No. 60; thence by the said road intersecting Sections 24 and 35 in a southerly direction to the Makaretu River to its source; thence by a right line running due west to the summit of the Ruahine Range; and thence towards the west generally by the summit of the Ruahine Range to the place of commencement.

Takapau Riding.

Bounded towards the north-east generally by the Onga Riding as described in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 22, of 28th March, 1929, towards the south-east by the Waipukurau County; towards the south-west generally by the Dannevirke County; and towards the north-west by the Clinton Riding hereinbefore described.

I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true copy of a special order made by the Waipawa County Council at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 10th day of November, 1930, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the said Council held on the 22nd December, 1930.

All persons or societies affected are hereby called upon to lodge written objections to the issue of the Order in Council which they desire to lodge within one month from the date of publication of this notice; such objections to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

Result of Poll of Producers within the Otago Provincial District under Part II of the Fruit Control Act, 1924.—(Notice No. Ag. 2949.)

IN accordance with the provisions of section 17 of the Fruit Control Act, 1924, it is hereby notified for public information that the poll under Part II of the said Act, taken on the 26th day of January, 1931, upon the proposal to bring the said Act into operation in so far as it relates to fruit produced in the Provincial District of Otago, and intended for sale for consumption in New Zealand, resulted in the said proposal being not carried.

The following declaration has been forwarded to me by the Returning Officer under the said Act.

DECLARATION OF POLL UNDER PART II OF THE FRUIT CONTROL ACT, 1924, RELATING TO THE CONTROL OF FRUIT INTENDED FOR LOCAL CONSUMPTION—OTAGO PROVINCIAL DISTRICT.

I, Robert Williamson Atkinson, Returning Officer for the purposes of the Fruit Control Act, 1924, do hereby declare the result of the poll taken on the 26th January, 1931, pursuant to section 17 of the said Act, on the proposal to bring the said Act into operation in so far as it relates to fruit produced in the Provincial District of Otago, and intended for sale for consumption in New Zealand, to be as follows:—

For the proposal .. .. .. 90
Against the proposal .. .. .. 80

Total votes recorded .. .. .. 170

As the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal is less than 60 per centum of the producers entitled to vote, I hereby declare the proposal to be not carried in the above-named provincial district.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Hawksbury Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Goodwood, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

Notice re Application of Girl Guides Association for Protection of Names, Badges, &c., of Association.

Wellington, 30th January, 1931.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Girl Guides Association (incorporated by Royal Charter) has made application for the issue of an Order in Council under the Chartered Associations (Protection of Names and Uniforms) Act, 1930.

The purpose of the application is to obtain protection of the name “The Girl Guides Association,” the special names and designations used for its members and for its various branches and units, and the badges to be worn with uniform and those to be worn without uniform.

Full particulars of the special names, badges, &c., which it is desired should be protected may be obtained on application to the Under-Secretary, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
