I T is hereby notified that, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by section 35 of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, the undermentioned person has been appointed a Ranger under and for the purposes of that Act for the Nelson Acclimatization District:—

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Halswell Survey District, for the Purposes of a Road.
N OTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Halswell, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 2 acres 0 roods 15·6 perches.
Being portion of Rural Section 1593.
Situated in Block II, Halswell Survey District (Canterbury R.D.). (S.P. 2243.)
In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 82837, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Classification of Roads in Waikouaiti County.
I N pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Motor-lorry Regulations, 1927, and their amendments, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Transport, do hereby alter the Waikouaiti County Council’s proposed classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Waikouaiti County, and do hereby approve such altered classification as set forth in the said Schedule.
SCHEDULE.
WAIKOUAITI COUNTY.
Roads classified in the Third Class: Available for the use thereon of any motor-lorry (other than a multi-axled motor-lorry) which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 6½ tons or any multi-axled motor-lorry which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 8 tons.
Main Highway: Evansdale–Merton via Seacliff Main Highway.
Roads classified in the Fourth Class: Available for the use thereon of any motor-lorry (other than a multi-axled motor-lorry) which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 4½ tons, or any multi-axled motor-lorry which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 6½ tons.
Dunedin–Waitati–Leith Valley Main Highway (section within the Waikouaiti County).
Junction of Main Highway south of Waitati to Port Chalmers Borough.
Lower Harbour Road from Port Chalmers Borough to North Spit.
Upper Junction to Port Chalmers Borough.
Waikouaiti Borough boundary to boundary of Blocks III and IV, Hawksbury Survey District, via Flag Swamp.
Waikouaiti Borough boundary to Nenthorn Township.

Notifying Land in the North Auckland Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1925.
Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 20th October, 1931.
P URSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I hereby notify that the undermentioned land, being the land known as Bayliss Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Act, is subject to the said Act as from the 23rd August, 1918.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—BAYLISS SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 201 acres 1 rood, more or less, being Sections W 12, M 12, Block XII, Hukerenui Survey District, and being all the land contained in Certificate of Title, Vol. 282, folio 8, Auckland Registry. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan marked L. and S. 26/2127, deposited under No. 2521 in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Portion of Northern Waiapu Consolidation Scheme confirmed.
In the matter of Section 6 of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1923.
N OTICE is hereby given that a scheme of consolidation (in part), dated the 22nd day of October, 1931, dealing with Omaewa 1A 1 and other blocks, as set out in the said scheme, having been prepared by the Native Land Court in accordance with the above-mentioned Act, and submitted under the seal of that said Court to the Native Minister for his approval, I, Apirana Turupa Ngata, as such Native Minister, being satisfied that the scheme so submitted is just and equitable, and is in the public interest, do hereby confirm the portion of the said scheme of consolidation which was so submitted on the 22nd day of October, 1931.
