NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Marlborough Land Board, the said land has reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Land in the Wellington Land District for Sale or Selection.

District Lands and Survey Office,

Wellington, 26th January, 1931.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be opened for selection in terms of the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday, 24th February, 1931.

The land may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Wellington, on Wednesday, 25th February, 1931, at 10.30 o'clock a.m., but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.

The ballot will be held immediately on conclusion of the examination of applicants.

Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants who have one or more children dependent on them; to landless applicants who within two years immediately preceding date of ballot have applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully; to applicants who have served beyond New Zealand as members of the Expeditionary Force; to persons engaged on military service beyond New Zealand in connection with the late war, if such persons immediately prior to the war were bona fide residents of New Zealand; to applicants who while domiciled in New Zealand have served beyond New Zealand as members of any of His Majesty's Forces in connection with any war other than the war with Germany;

and to landless applicants in respect of whom the Board, after taking into consideration the experience and skill of the applicants in farming operations, the proximity of their homes to the lands the subject-matter of the ballot, and any other relevant considerations, is of opinion that they should be entitled to preference equally with applicants of any of the hereinbefore specified classes.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Wanganui County.—Mangawhero Survey District.

SECTION 40, Block VIII, Mangawhero Survey District : Area, 804 acres 3 roods. Capital value: £1,000. Deposit on deferred payments, £50; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £31 2s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £20.

Weighted with improvements valued at £950, which sum may be secured to the Superintendent, State Advances Office, for a term of thirty years, and bearing interest at the rate of 6 per cent. per annum.

This property is situated in the Mangamahu Valley. Access from Fordell Railway-station, twenty-seven miles distant. Daily mail service to Mangamahu, six miles distant. Whole area has been felled and grassed, but approximately 400 acres have reverted to manuka scrub.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Rotorua, at 4 o'clock p.m. on Friday, the 13th day of February, 1931.

SCHEDULE.

ROTORUA FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.—AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.

All the milling-timber specified on that area, containing approximately 46-4 acres, situated in Section 30s, Block VIII, Otanewainuku Survey District (Portion of P.S.F. No. 69),
