Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, at 10 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 24th June, 1931, but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT. — FIRST-CLASS LAND. — SETTLEMENT LAND.
Stratford County.—Huiroa Survey District.—Kota Settlement. SECTION 6s and Lot 2 of 7s : Area, 160 acres 1 rood. Capital value, £1,920. Half-yearly rent, £48.
A dairying and sheep-farming property situated at the junction of the Makuri and Kaikoura roads, two miles from Huiroa School, and five miles from Toko Railway-station and dairy factory. Level to undulating land, about 100 acres ploughable, the soil being a volcanic loam on sandstone, watered by streams. Practically the whole area is in good pasture, and ragwort which was formerly in evidence has been well kept down by top-dressing and sheep-grazing.
Improvements comprise dwelling of four rooms, washhouse, &c., cow-shed (three double bails), and engine-room, concrete standing area, car-shed, bridge and crossings, approximately 98 chains road and boundary fencing, 202 chains internal sheep-fencing, 19 chains cow-fencing, felling, stumping, and grassing, total value, £1,760, of which £1,080 is included in the capital value. Of the balance, £30 is to be paid in cash, and £650 to remain on instalment mortgage for twenty years, with interest at 5½ per cent., repayable by half-yearly instalments of principal and interest combined amounting to £26 19s. 10d.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS.
(1) Date of possession : 1st July, 1931. Stock on property will be disposed of between date of ballot and date of possession.
(2) Rights are reserved to the Stratford Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Limited, to take water for factory purposes from the Kaikoura Stream and its tributaries conditional upon any disturbed ground surface being restored.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral run will be opened for lease in terms of the Land Act, 1924 ; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 6th July, 1931.

Term of lease : Thirty-five years.
Weighted with £17 1s., for improvements comprising approximately 62 chains east boundary fencing. This sum is payable in cash.
Situated about ten miles from Milton School and post-office. Formed and part metalled road along eastern boundary. Part of the area is covered with manuka ; while the balance is partly open and contains a good area of grazing country. The soil is of light loam resting on sharp clay bottom. The area is well watered by creeks.
