The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own).

Lieutenant J. D. Baybutt, from the Canterbury Regiment, to be Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 8th November, 1922, and is posted to the 5th C. Battalion. Dated 21st April, 1931.

2nd Lieutenant C. E. Hubbard, from the Waikato Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 23rd December, 1930, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 21st April, 1931.

The Hauraki Regiment.

Reginald Richard Joseph Jenkin to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 12th September, 1930.

The Waikato Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant G. J. M. Bacon, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, ceases to be attached to the 1st Battalion. Dated 21st April, 1931.

Defence Rifle Club disbanded.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has approved of the disbandment of the undermentioned Defence Rifle Club, under section 43, Defence Act, 1909:—

Awahuri Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters at Awahuri. Dated 22nd April, 1931.

Tauhei Drainage Board.—Cancellation of Unexercised Loan Authority.

In the matter of Section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WHEREAS the Tauhei Drainage Board has been duly authorized to borrow by way of loan the sum of four thousand nine hundred pounds (£4,900) for drainage works, and the consent of the Governor-General in Council thereto was given by Order in Council made on 28th March, 1927, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, No. 20, of 7th April, 1927, at page 892:

And whereas in respect of the said sum of four thousand nine hundred pounds (£4,900) there has been raised and borrowed for the purpose aforesaid the sum of four thousand five hundred pounds (£4,500):

And whereas the undertaking in respect of which the said loan was authorized has been completed, and it has not been found necessary to borrow the whole of the amount so authorized:

And whereas the Minister of Finance has duly notified the Tauhei Drainage Board in writing of his intention to cancel the loan authority in so far as it has not been exercised:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in that behalf conferred upon me by section 118 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers me in this behalf enabling, I, George William Forbes, Minister of Finance, do hereby cancel the authority of the Tauhei Drainage Board to borrow under the loan authority hereinbefore referred to the sum of four hundred pounds (£400), being the amount in respect of which the said loan authority has not been exercised: Provided always that this cancellation is without prejudice to the validity in all respects of the loan of four thousand five hundred pounds (£4,500) already borrowed pursuant to the said loan authority.

OTOROHANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 13 (1) of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Otorohanga, taken on the 10th day of April, 1931, on the proposal of the Otorohanga County Council to borrow the sum of seven hundred pounds for paying part of the cost of acquisition of land, fencing, road-formation, culverting, bridge-building, and metalling Awatane Road from Auckland—Wellington Main Highway to the Mangaorongo Stream, together with the branch road, approximately 10 chains in length, running northwards from Awatane Road, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 5; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice of Intention to take Additional Land in the Borough of Hastings for the Purposes of a Post-office.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the additional land described in the Schedule hereto for the purposes of a post-office: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Hastings, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 6·6 perches.

Being Lot 5 of part Section 8. (D.P. 1893).

Situated in the Borough of Hastings.

In the Hawke’s Bay Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 81711, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness my hand, at Wellington, this 4th day of May, 1931.
