THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Springs-Ellesmere Electric-power Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

SPRINGS-ELLESMERE ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.
Pursuant to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the constituent districts of Ellesmere County, Springs County, Selwyn County, Halswell County, Paparua County, Malvern County, Leeston Town District, and Southbridge Town District within the Springs-Ellesmere Electric-power District was taken on 25th March, 1931, on the proposal to borrow the sum of twenty-five thousand pounds (£25,000) for the purpose of purchasing the Tai Tapu Dairy Company, Limited’s, reticulation, and the Public Works Department’s lines, and the construction of electric works as defined in the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, and its amendments.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 393; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 49. I therefore declare the proposal carried.

New Zealand Inscribed Stock Act, 1917.—Closing of Registers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Registers of New Zealand 4½-per-cent. Inscribed Stock, maturing 15th November, 1938, will be closed from the 1st May to the 15th May, 1931 (inclusive), for the purpose of the issue of half-yearly interest.

Alteration of Boundaries of Golden Downs Forest Fire District.
WHEREAS by a notice published in the Gazette on the 24th day of January, 1929, at page 184 (hereinafter referred to as “the said notice”), a certain area in the Nelson Land District, Waima County, more particularly delineated on plan 108/11, deposited in the Head Office, State Forest Service, Wellington, and thereon bordered red (the said notice referred to such land being in Gordon, Tadmor, and Motupiko Survey Districts), was declared to be a fire district; and is now known as Golden Downs Forest Fire District:
And whereas it is expedient to extend the boundaries of the said fire district by including therein the land described in the First Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, and on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the Nelson Land District, I do hereby declare that the land described in the First Schedule hereto shall, as on and from the date hereof, be deemed to be added to and form part of the Golden Downs Forest Fire District constituted by the said notice, and that the period specified in the said notice as a closed season shall apply with respect to the land described in the said First Schedule hereto; and with the like power and authority, do declare that the fire district comprising together the area first hereinbefore referred to and the land described in the said First Schedule hereto (the boundaries of which fire district are set out in the Second Schedule hereto) shall be known as Golden Downs Forest Fire District.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—NELSON-MARLBOROUGH FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION.
Area added to Golden Downs Forest Fire District.
All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing approximately 22,000 acres, situated in Waima County in Blocks XIII and XIV, Wai-iti Survey District, and Blocks I, II, V, VI, IX, X, and XIV, Gordon Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north by Sections 9 and 8, Block XIII aforesaid; towards the north-east by Sections 30 and 31, Block XIV, Wai-iti Survey District; towards the north-west and south-west by Section 31 aforesaid; again towards the north by Section 41, Block XIV, Wai-iti Survey District; again towards the north-east by a road which forms the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 27 and 43, Block II aforesaid, by Sections 20, 18, 96, 10, and 21, a road, Section 11,
a road and Section 7, all in Block II aforesaid, and Section 16, Block III, Gordon Survey District; towards the east by the Wai-iti River and Sections 2, 51, 52, 2, and 3, Block VII, Gordon Survey District, and Sections 2 and 5, Block XI, Gordon Survey District; again towards the south-east by the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 9 and 3, Block X aforesaid; again towards the south-west by Section 16, Block XIV, Gordon Survey District, for a distance of approximately 2700 links to a stream; again towards the south-east by the said stream; again towards the south-west by the left bank of the Motueka River; again towards the north-west by Section 51, Block I aforesaid; again towards the south-west by the south-western side of the Upper Motueka Valley Road; again towards the north-east by the south-western boundary of Lot 3 of Section 1, Block I aforesaid, and that boundary produced to the aforesaid south-western side of the road; again towards the north-west by the north-western boundary of Lot 3 of Section 1 aforesaid, and that boundary produced to the eastern side of Oliver’s Road; and again towards the south-west by Oliver’s Road. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 108/21, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered yellow.

Golden Downs Forest Fire District.
All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing approximately 55,650 acres, situated in Waima County in Blocks XIII and XIV, Wai-iti Survey District, Blocks I, II, V, VI, IX, XIII, and XIV, Gordon Survey District, Blocks IV, VIII, XII, and XVI, Tadmor Survey District, and Blocks I and II, Motupiko Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north by Sections 9 and 8, Block XIII, Wai-iti Survey District; towards the north-east by Sections 30 and 31, Block XIV, Wai-iti Survey District; towards the north-west and south-west by Section 31 aforesaid; again towards the north by Section 41, Block XIV, Wai-iti Survey District; again towards the north-east by a road which forms the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 27 and 43, Block II, Gordon Survey District, by Sections 20, 18, 96, 10, and 21, a road, Section 11, a road and Section 7, all in Block II, Gordon Survey District, and Section 16, Block III, Gordon Survey District; towards the east by the Wai-iti River and Sections 2, 51, 52, 2, and 3, Block VII, Gordon Survey District, and Sections 2 and 5, Block XI, Gordon Survey District; again towards the south-east by the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 9 and 3, Block X aforesaid; again towards the south-west by Section 16, Block XIV, Gordon Survey District, for a distance of approximately 2700 links to a stream; again towards the south-east by the said stream; again towards the east by the left banks of the Motueka River and the Blue Glen Stream; again towards the south-east by the north-western boundary of Section 2, Block II, Motupiko Survey District, and that boundary produced to the south-western side of the road forming the south-western boundary of Section 2, Block II, Motupiko Survey District; again towards the north-east by the last-mentioned road; again towards the south and south-west by Section 15, Block I, Motupiko Survey District, and a line bearing south-west across the Tophouse Road to Brough’s Creek; again towards the south-west and west by Brough’s Creek and the right bank of the Motupiko River; again towards the east by the left bank of the Motueka River; again towards the north-west by Section 51, Block I, Gordon Survey District; again towards the south-west by the south-western side of the Upper Motueka Valley Road; again towards the north-east by the south-western boundary of Lot 3 of Section 1, Block I, Gordon Survey District, and that boundary produced to the aforesaid south-western side of the road; again towards the north-west by the north-western boundary of Lot 3 of Section 1 aforesaid, and that boundary produced to the eastern side of Oliver’s Road; and again towards the south-west by Oliver’s Road. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 108/21, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service, and thereon bordered red.
