Applying the Provisions of Section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, to the Balclutha Traffic-bridge.
WHEREAS it is provided by section 7 of the Main Highways Amendment Act, 1925, that the Minister of Public Works may, on the recommendation of the Main Highways Board (hereinafter deferred to as “the Board”), by notice in the Gazette, declare that the provisions of section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, in so far as it provides for the apportionment of the cost of construction of any bridge forming part of a main highway, shall apply with respect to the apportionment of the cost of construction of any bridge forming part of a main highway in so far as such cost is not provided for out of the Main Highway Fund :
And whereas on the 25th day of February, 1931, the Board resolved as follows: “That, in terms of the Main Highways Amendment Act, 1925, the Honourable Minister of Public Works be recommended to apply the provisions of section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, to the Balclutha Traffic-bridge on the Dunedin-Invercargill Main Highway”:
Now, therefore, I, William Burgoyne Taverner, Minister of Public Works, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the said section 7, and of every other power in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby declare that the provisions of section 135 of the Public Works Act, 1928, in so far as they provide for the apportionment of cost of construction, shall apply with respect to the apportionment of the cost of construction of the Balclutha Traffic-bridge on the Dunedin-Invercargill Main Highway.

Classification of Roads in Ashburton County.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Motor-lorry Regulations, 1927, and their amendments, I, William Burgoyne Taverner, Minister of Transport, do hereby declare that the roads described in the Schedule hereto, and situated in the Ashburton County, shall belong to the respective class of road shown in the said Schedule.

Roads classified in the Second Class: Available for the use thereon of any motor-lorry, other than a multi-axled motor-lorry, which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 8 tons, or any multi-axled motor-lorry which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 10 tons.

Classification of Roads in Vincent County.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Transport Department Act, 1929, and the Motor-lorry Regulations, 1927, and their amendments, I, William Burgoyne Taverner, Minister of Transport, do hereby approve of the Vincent County Council’s proposed classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto, and situated in the Vincent County.
SCHEDULE.
VINCENT COUNTY.
Roads classified in the Fifth Class: Available for the use thereon of any motor-lorry (other than a multi-axled motor-lorry) which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 2½ tons, or any multi-axled motor-lorry which with the load it is carrying weighs not more than 4½ tons:--
Galloway-Springvale Road from the north corner of Section 101, Block VIII, Leaning Rock Survey District, in a northerly direction to its junction with the Palmerston-Queenstown Main Highway.
Cromwell - Lowburn Road from its junction with the Palmerston-Queenstown Main Highway in a northerly direction along the east bank of the Clutha River to the north corner of Section 40, Block V, Wakefield Survey District.

Notice to make Returns of Land under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923.
NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the above Act and the regulations made thereunder, every person and company within the meaning of the said Act, whether a taxpayer or not, being owner of land in New Zealand, is hereby required to make and furnish to me, in the prescribed form, returns of such land as at 12 o’clock noon on the 31st day of March, 1931.
If the total unimproved value of the land of any person or company, as assessed under the Valuation of Land Act, 1925, does not exceed £500, a return of land need not be furnished.
And, further, notice is hereby given that such returns shall in all cases be delivered at or forwarded to the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, in the Government Buildings at Wellington, on or before the 8th day of April, 1931.

NOTE.—Forms of return may be obtained at any post-office; they will not be sent to taxpayers from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes unless written application is made for them.
SPECIAL NOTE.—Any person failing to furnish a return at the prescribed time is liable to a penalty up to £100.
