Lands in the Otago Land District for Sale or Selection.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, 9th December, 1930.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
will be opened for selection in terms of the Land Act,
1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands
and Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o'clock p.m. on Monday,
12th January, 1931.
The lands may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased
for cash, or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable
lease.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, on Wednesday, 14th January, 1931, at 10.30
o'clock a.m., but if any applicant so desires he may be examined
by the Land Board of any other district.
The ballot will be held immediately on conclusion of the
examination of applicants.
Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants
who have one or more children dependent on them; to land-
less applicants who within two years immediately preceding
date of ballot have applied for land at least twice unsuccess-
fully; to applicants who have served beyond New Zealand
as members of the Expeditionary Force; to persons engaged
on military service beyond New Zealand in connection with
the late war, if such persons immediately prior to the war
were bona fide residents of New Zealand; to applicants who
while domiciled in New Zealand have served beyond New
Zealand as members of any of His Majesty's Forces in con-
nection with any war other than the war with Germany;
and to landless applicants in respect of whom the Board,
after taking into consideration the experience and skill of
the applicants in farming operations, the proximity of their
homes to the lands the subject-matter of the ballot, and any
other relevant considerations, is of opinion that they should
be entitled to preference equally with applicants of any of
the hereinbefore specified classes.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Clutha County.-Woodland Survey District.
PART Section 28, Block X: Area, 137 acres 3 roods 37 perches.
Capital value, £175. Deposit on deferred payments, £10;
half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £5 7s. 3d.
Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £3 10s.
Improvements, not included in the capital value and to be
paid for separately, comprise half-share of 47 chains west
boundary fencing, £4 14s.
Situated one mile from Tarara Post and Telegraph Office
and four miles and a half from Caberfeidh Railway-station.
School adjoining section. Access from Owaka, eleven miles
distant, by formed and metalled road, or from Caberfeidh
Railway-station, four and a half miles distant. Road from
Caberfeidh to section formed but not all metalled. Land
undulating, but mostly level and lying well to the sun. All
virgin bush (mixed, no birch). Soil of good quality, sharp
loam resting on clay formation. Well watered by creeks.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Clutha County.-Glenomaru Survey District.
Sections 42, 43, and 44, Block X : Area, 642 acres 2 roods
3 perches. Capital value, £225. Deposit on deferred pay-
ments, £15; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments,
£6 16s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £4 10s.
Improvements not included in the capital value and to be
paid for separately comprise: Dwelling (scullery), and cow-
byre, £300; about 180 acres felled, burned, and grassed,
£160; and about 180 chains internal fencing, £60: total,
£520.
This sum may be paid in cash, or left on mortgage for a
term of twenty years, interest in the case of a civilian to be
5½ per cent. and in the case of a discharged soldier 5 per
cent.
Situated four miles from Glenomaru Railway-station and
post-office, five miles from Glenomaru School, and nine miles
from Owaka. Access by good formed road from Glenomaru.
Well watered by creeks and springs. Suitable for grazing
sheep and dry cattle. About 180 acres felled and grassed;
balance bush. Large portion of the land steep and back-
lying.
