Altering Rates of Duty on Barley.—(C. No. 74.)

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 25th day of November, 1930.

Present:
THE HON. SIR APIRANA NGATA, PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section twelve of the Customs Amendment Act, 1921, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth suspend the existing Tariff (being Part II of the First Schedule hereto), and in lieu thereof doth impose the duties and create the exemptions from duty set forth in the Second Schedule hereto :

Provided that nothing in this Order in Council shall affect the provisions of section five or subsection three of section nine of the Customs Acts Amendment Act, 1930, in respect of the imposition on any goods affected by this Order in Council of surtax or primage duty, as the case may be.

This Order in Council shall come into force on the date of publication of the same in the New Zealand Gazette.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
PORTION OF TARIFF SUSPENDED.

Tariff Item. Goods. British Preferential Tariff. Column No. 1. General Tariff. Column No. 2.
4 (3) Grain and pulse, unground and unmanufactured, viz :— Barley— (a) To be used in the manufacture of beer .. .. .. .. 2s. per cental 2s. per cental. (b) Not to be used in the manufacture of beer .. .. .. .. Free .. Free.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
RATES OF DUTY IMPOSED AND EXEMPTIONS CREATED.

4 (3) Grain and pulse, unground and unmanufactured, viz. :— Barley— (a) To be used in the manufacture of beer or to be used otherwise than as stock food 2s. per cental 2s. per cental. (b) To be used as stock food, on declaration by the importer that it will be so used, and on such conditions as may be determined by the Minister Free .. Free.
