Rock unsuccessfully searched for.

Former Notice: Wellington Notice No. 66 of 1929.
Position: Lat. 40° 43½′ S., long. 173° 54½′ E. (approx.).
Details: The submerged rock reported to exist near Port Hardy Entrance has been unsuccessfully searched for by the Government Lighthouse Tender “Tutanekai.”
Charts affected: 2684—695—2054—2616—3629.

ADMIRALTY NOTICE TO MARINERS No. 2030, OF 1929.

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN.—FIJI GROUP.

(1) Ovalau Beacon, North-westward of, destroyed.

Position: About 4 miles westward of Nympe shoal. Lat. 17° 37′ S., long. 178° 43′ E. (approx.).
Details: The beacon has been destroyed, the symbol for a rock awash, is to be substituted for it, on the charts.

(2) Viti Levu: Beacon destroyed.

Position: On the reef which extends northward of Tanavuso Point. Lat. 17° 33′ S., long. 178° 29′ E. (approx.).
Details: The beacon has been destroyed, and is to be expunged from the chart affected.

Remarks: The beacons, mentioned in (1) and (2), above, were not shown on certain copies of the charts.

Land Surveyors’ Examination, March, 1930, Australia and New Zealand.

The Survey Board of New Zealand,

IT is hereby notified, for general information, that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors’ Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates completing sittings to qualify for registration as surveyor, commencing at 10 a.m. on Monday, 17th March, 1930, at Wellington.

Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 3rd March, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained. The new examination rules may also be obtained at a cost of one shilling. Candidates desiring to sit in other centres than Wellington must forward an extra fee of £1 1s. Ordinary fees are as follows: For first post examination, £5 5s.; for second post examination, £1 1s. per subject.

At this examination no candidates sitting for the first time will be accepted, only those completing former sittings.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be offered for sale by public auction for cash at this office on Wednesday, the 5th March, 1930, at 11 o’clock a.m., under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and amendments.


SCHEDULE.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—TOWN OF KAIKOURA.

TOWN LAND.

SECTIONS 17, 18, and 19, Block X: Area, 13·5 perches. Capital value, £50.

Good business-site, situated Main Street, Kaikoura; all flat; 21 ft. frontage.

Terms of Sale.

Cash: One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee (£1) and valuation for improvements (if any), within thirty days thereafter.

If the purchaser fails to make any of the prescribed payments by due date the amount already paid shall be forfeited and the contract for the sale be null and void.

Title will be subject of Part XIII of the Land Act, 1924.

Settlement Land in Canterbury Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 29th January, 1930.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, and amendments, and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 24th February, 1930.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, at 10.30 o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 26th February, 1930, but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.

Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants who have one or more children dependent on them; to landless applicants who, within two years immediately preceding date of ballot, have applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully; to applicants who have served beyond New Zealand as members of the Expeditionary Force; to persons engaged on military service beyond New Zealand in connection with the late war, if such persons immediately prior to the war
