REPORT on the Vital Statistics of the Urban Areas of the Dominion for the Month of May, 1930:

The total live births registered for the urban areas amounted to 1,078 as against 951 in April, an increase of 127. The deaths in May were 505, an increase of 21 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 238, females 267. Thirty-six of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 7·13 per cent. of the whole number. Thirty-two of these were under one year of age.

The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for May, 1930, and five months ended May, 1930, were as follows. The infant-mortality and still-birth rates per 100 births for the same period are also given.
