Appointments in the Public Service.

THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following appointments in the Public Service :—

Harold Roy Denize

to be Registrar of Brands for the Hawera Branding Registration District in terms of the Stock Act, 1908, as from the 1st day of April, 1930.

George Reginald Park,

to be Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Timaru for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, Crier at Timaru for the Supreme Court of New Zealand for the purposes of the Judicature Act, 1908, and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrates’ Court, Timaru, for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act, 1926, as from the 1st day of April, 1930.

William George Bonner

to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Stock Act, 1908, and an Inspector for the purposes of the Shearers Accommodation Act, 1919, as from the 11th day of April, 1930.

Thomas O’Hare

to be Bailiff of the Magistrates’ Court at Rotorua for the purposes of the Magistrates’ Courts Act, 1928, as from the 1st day of July, 1929.

George Duncan Shand and
Edward John Robertson

to be Inspectors for the purposes of the Stock Act, 1908, as from the 11th day of April, 1930.

William Donovan, M.Sc., F.I.C.,

to be Chief Gas Examiner and a Gas Referee for the purposes of the Board of Trade (Gas) Regulations, 1924, vice James Scott Maclaurin, D.Sc., F.C.S., as from the 17th day of April, 1930.

James Scott Maclaurin, D.Sc., F.C.S.

to be a Gas Referee for the purposes of the Board of Trade (Gas) Regulations, 1924, vice Robert West Holmes, resigned. As from the 17th day of April, 1930.

John Patrick Shennan

to be an Inspector for the purposes of the Dairy Industry Act, 1908, the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, and the Noxious Weeds Act, 1928, as from the 15th day of April, 1930.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 23rd April, 1930.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman, Hokianga County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

HOKIANGA COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Horeke Riding, in the County of Hokianga, was taken on the 26th day of March, 1930, on the proposal of the Hokianga County Council to borrow the sum of £3,400 (three thousand four hundred pounds) for the purposes of forming, reforming, culverting, and metalling the roads as defined in the proposals.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 32; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 26. A three-fifths majority being required to carry the poll, I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block III, Waitara Survey District, for the Purposes of a Post-office.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a post-office—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Urenui, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 1 rood.

Being Section 73, Township of Urenui.

Situated in Block III, Waitara Survey District.

In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 78463, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

I, HAROLD BEANLAND WALTON, Assistant Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that the Temperance Guards Brass Band (Incorporated) is no longer carrying on its operation, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.
