West Head: Light established.
Former Notices: Section 2 of Wellington Notices No. 65 of 1929 and 7 of 1930 (both preliminary).
Position: On the summit of West Head, at the western side of the eastern entrance to Tory Channel. Lat. 41° 13′ S., long. 174° 20′ E. (approx.).
Date of Establishment: 25th March, 1930.
Abridged Description: Gp. fl. (2), ev. 20 sec., 146 ft. (U).
Character: Group-flashing white, showing two flashes every twenty seconds, thus: Flash 1 sec., eclipse 1 sec., flash 1 sec., eclipse 17 sec.
Elevation: 146 ft. (44ᵐ⁵).
Structure: White tower, 12 ft.
Arc of Visibility: From 267° through west to 010°, and from 076° through east to 131°; obscured elsewhere.
Note.—The light is unwatched.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Land in Taranaki Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the license of the under-mentioned land, having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Taranaki Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924.

Land in Gisborne Land District for Sale or Selection.
District Lands and Survey Office,

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land will be opened for selection in terms of the Land Act, 1924; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne, up to 4 o’clock p.m., on Wednesday, 7th May, 1930.
The land may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne, at 10.30 o’clock a.m. on Friday, 9th May, 1930, but if any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.
The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.

GISBORNE LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Wairoa County.—Taramarama Survey District.
SECTION 1, Block XIV: Area, 249 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £830. Deposit on deferred payments, £30; half-yearly instalment on deferred payments, £26. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £20.
Long narrow section, comprising hilly land of fair quality, practically all in grass. Has no formed road access, but is about half a mile from the Cricklewood Road. Boundary on one side fenced. Formerly Tutaekuri 1c 11A Block.
Special Condition.—The Crown will not be responsible for the formation of the legal access road.

Education Reserves in Taranaki Land District for Lease by Public Auction.
District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 26th March, 1930.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned education reserve will be offered for lease by public auction at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, on Tuesday, 15th April, 1930, at 10.30 o’clock a.m., under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1928, and the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908, and amendments.
SCHEDULE.
TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—EDUCATION RESERVES.
Ohura County.—Waro Survey District.
SECTION 1, Block VII: Area, 540 acres. Upset annual rent, £19 10s.
After the first half-year’s rent, broken-period rent (if any), and lease fee have been paid a rental exemption for a period of three years will be granted provided improvements to the value of £40 are effected annually.
Weighted with £320, for improvements, comprising 300 acres felling and grassing, fencing, and tracks. This sum may be paid in cash or by a cash deposit of £10, the balance being secured on first mortgage to the State Advances Department for a term of thirty years, the half-yearly instalments, comprising principal and interest, being £11 4s.
This property is situated about fourteen miles from the Ohura Township by way of the Mangaroa and Waitaanga South Roads. It comprises undulating to hilly country on sandstone formation. It is well watered. Altitude, 1,500 ft. The bush comprises rimu, red birch, tawhero, and a little totara.
ABSTRACT OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

A half-year’s rent at rate offered, and lease and registration fees (£2 2s.), to be paid on fall of hammer.

Term of lease is twenty-one years, with perpetual right of renewal for successive terms of twenty-one years at rents based on fresh valuations under the provisions of the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908.

No compensation for improvements; but if lease is not renewed upon expiry, the new lease offered for disposal by public competition will be subject to payment by the incoming tenant of valuation for improvements effected by the original lessee with the consent of the Land Board. Failing disposal, the land and improvements revert to the Crown without compensation.

No transfer, mortgage, sublease, or subdivisions allowed without consent.

Lessee to cultivate and improve the land and keep it clear of noxious weeds.

Lessee to maintain in good substantial repair all buildings, fences, gates, and drains, and to keep clear all creeks, drains, ditches, and watercourses, to trim all live hedges, and to yield up all improvements in good order and condition at the expiration of the lease.

Rent payable half-yearly in advance, subject to penalty at the rate of 10 per cent. per annum for any period during which it remains in arrears.

No gravel to be removed from land without consent of the Land Board.

Lessee will not carry on any offensive trade.
-
Lessee to give notice to Land Board before making improvements.

Lessee to pay all rates, taxes, and assessments.

Lease is liable to forfeiture if conditions are violated.

The land in the First Schedule is open for general application, and may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease.
