FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at Mount Cook, and proceeding thence along the summits of the Southern Alps and the Two Thumbs Range to the source of the Forest Creek; thence down that stream and the middle of the Rangitata River to the sea; thence along the sea-coast to the Pareora River, and up the Pareora River to its source ; by a right line to the summit of Mount Nimrod ; thence by a right line to Trig. Station F; thence northerly along the summit of the range to Trig. K ; thence by a line due west to the Hakataramea River; thence up the Hakataramea River and Dalgety Creek to Hakataramea Pass, thence by a right line passing through Trig. Station N1 to Stony Stream; thence down Stony Stream to the Waitaki River; and on the west by a line up the middle of the Waitaki and Pukaki Rivers to Pukaki Lake ; thence up the middle of Pukaki Lake to the Tasman River; thence up the middle of the Tasman River to the Tasman Glacier ; thence along the western boundary of the said Tasman Glacier to a point in line with a line from Mount Cook and passing through Ball Hut; thence by that line to Mount Cook and the summit of the Southern Alps, the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Areas, in addition to those referred to in condition No. 3, excepted from the open season wherein imported game and native game, or native game only, shall not be taken or killed:-

Milford Lagoon.

Mackenzie County Council's hydro-electric dam at Fairlie.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District being Run 77, and known as Richmond Station. Bounded on the east by the summit of the Two Thumb Range; on the south by Boundary Creek from its source to Lake Tekapo; on the west by Lake Tekapo to the mouth of Coal River ; thence by that river to its source; and thence by a right line to the summit of the Two Thumb Range, the place of commencement.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District being S.G.R. 94, and known as Mount Hay Station. Bounded on the east by the summit of the Two Thumb Range ; on the south by Runs 209 and 76; on the west by Lake Tekapo; and on the north generally by Boundary Creek from its mouth to its source in the Two Thumb Range ; thence by a right line to the summit of the said range, the place of commencement.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District being Run 78, and known as Lilybank Station. Bounded on the east by the summit of the Two Thumb Range from McClure Peak to the Thumbs Mountain; thence on the south-east by a right line to a stream having its source on the Thumbs and by that stream to the Macaulay River; thence by the right bank of the Macaulay River to its confluence with the Godley River; thence on the west by the left bank of the Godley River; and on the north by the Godley Glacier to McClure Peak, the place of commencement.

Open Season for Native Game, License Fees, &c., Southland Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Philip Aldborough de la Perrelle, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 30th day of June, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Southland Acclimatization District, as described in the Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in condition No. 3, and excepting also all that country to the north of a line starting at Lake Monowai, and thence down the south side of the Monowai River to the Waiau River, up the east side of the Waiau River to the Manapouri accommodation-house; thence along the main road to the hatchery at Te Anau, and along the said road to the Mararoa Bridge; thence up the east side of the Mararoa River to the junction of the old Te Anau-Mavora Road; thence along the old Te Anau Road to the Oreti River; thence down the western side of the Oreti River to Centre

Hill; thence in a straight line to the Township of Athol, for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., grey duck, spoonbill duck or shoveller, and black swan; and the period from the 1st day of May to the 7th day of May, 1930 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district, except as above, for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., paradise duck; and the period from the 2nd day of February to the 31st day of March, 1931 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., godwits—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

1. LICENSES to take or kill such native game (including godwits) will be issued to any person on payment of ten shillings (10s.) each ; and the Secretary of the Southland Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such Secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

2. The number of such native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed twenty head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck or shoveller, and black swan, and six head of paradise duck.

3. Nothing in any license to take or kill native game (including godwits) shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill native game (including godwits) on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain.

4. No person shall kill or destroy any such native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.

5. A license issued pursuant to this notification to take or kill native game shall entitle the owner thereof to take or kill native game in the Otago Acclimatization District during the period and subject, mutatis mutandis, to the conditions prescribed in the notification fixing an open season for native game in that district.

6. Shooting may begin one hour before sunrise and must cease one hour after sunset.

All that area in the Southland Land District bounded by a line commencing at the head of Bligh Sound and proceeding thence along a right line passing through Cloudy Pass and Castle Mount to the summit of the range forming the eastern watershed of the Clinton River; thence southerly along the summit of that range to Mount Eglinton ; along a right line to Round Peaks ; along the summit of the western watershed of Lake Wakatipu to Jane Peak; thence along a right line to Eyre Peak, and down the middle of the Mataura River to the sea; thence westerly and northerly generally along the sea-coast to the point of commencement : including all adjacent islands, together with Stewart Island and the islands adjacent thereto.
