by other than express, mail, or passenger trains, be conveyed at half rates, under the same conditions as horses conveyed by other than express, mail, or passenger trains. When horses or ponies have been conveyed on the outward journey by ordinary trains and are returned by express, mail, or passenger trains, full rates will be charged for the return journey less half the amount of the railage paid in respect of the outward journey.

Racehorses, hunters, or polo-ponies not coming within the provisions of paragraph 16 of this regulation, and which compete at two or more race or hunt-club meetings or polo-matches between the time of their departure from the original forwarding station and their return thereto, will be charged full ordinary or express-train rates (according to the class of train transported by) for all rail journeys made.

On the return of such racehorses, hunters, or polo-ponies to the original forwarding station, and on production of a certificate on the prescribed form obtainable at any officered railway-station, duly signed by the secretary of each jockey, racing, or polo club, or master of the hunt at which the horses were entered to compete, and the owner or trainer of the horses, a refund will be made of 25 per cent. of the total amount of the railage paid for horses, hunters, or ponies which have completed a circuit of journeys.

The return journey must be made within two months from the date when the horses were consigned from the original forwarding station, and not later than fourteen days from the concluding day of the last race or hunt-club meeting or polo-match at which the racehorses, hunters, or polo-ponies were entered to compete.

For all horses which have been sold or exchanged no refund will be made on the railage charges paid for such horses, irrespective of the points between which they were carried.

Full rates will be charged for all animals received at the original forwarding stations in excess of the number forwarded from such station, and no refund will be made of the railage charges on such horses.
By inserting the following :—
- Racehorses, hunters, and polo-ponies travelling to and from a race meeting, hunt-club meeting, or polo-match will be charged 25 per cent. less than the appropriate rate under this regulation, provided that the necessary certificate in one of the forms following is endorsed on the consignment note, and signed by the owner or trainer, and provided further that, in the case of horses forwarded from a race or hunt-club meeting or polo-match, the journey is commenced not later than fourteen days after the concluding day of such meeting or match.

(a) Insert “hunters” or “polo-ponies.” (b) Name, place, and date of meeting.
- LOCAL RATES AND REGULATIONS.
By adding the following :—
Motor-vehicles which can be loaded on a four-wheeled wagon, and are conveyed by special train from the General Motors, New Zealand, Limited’s, siding (near Petone) to Auckland or Newmarket, will be charged £7 15s. 7d. each. Minimum load for a special train, 45 motor-vehicles.

Parcels conveyed between Christchurch and Kaikoura will be charged at the following rates :—

These rates also apply to parcels ordinarily charged at quarter or half rate; in the case of parcels charged rate and a quarter, rate and a half, or double rate, as the case may be, the charges specified above are to be similarly increased.
New Zealand grown fresh fruit (Regulation 21) will be charged at the rate of 1s. 6d. per 56 lb.
On consignments to Christchurch the terminal charges as provided in paragraph 3, Regulation 10, will be additional.
