Local Bodies appointed to have Authority throughout Licensing Districts.

Wellington, 11th February, 1929.
IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred by the 63rd section of the Licensing Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand has been pleased to appoint the local bodies named in the Schedule hereto to have authority for purposes of the Licensing Act throughout the licensing districts respectively named in the said Schedule opposite the name of each such local body respectively, and to make all necessary appointments and to do all things required for the conduct of elections or the taking of a poll of electors, and to have the general administration of the Licensing Act within such licensing districts respectively.

Time and Place of the First Meeting of the Fireblight Committee of the Thames Commercial Fruitgrowing District appointed—(Notice No. Ag. 2784.)
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Fireblight Committee Regulations, 1928, under the Orchard-tax Act, 1927, I, George William Forbes, Minister of Agriculture, hereby appoint 7.30 o’clock p.m. on Friday, the 15th day of February, 1929, as the time, and Dowd’s Buildings, Pollen Street, Thames, as the place, for holding the first meeting of the Fireblight Committee of the Thames Commercial Fruitgrowing District established pursuant to the said regulations.

Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the Service of Notices by Telegraph.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1928 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1914, the following officers, at the addresses set against their names, are hereby appointed Transmitting and Receiving Officers for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid.

Notice as to an Area in Canterbury Land District declared to be a Fire District.
State Forest Service,
Wellington, 12th February, 1929.
PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921-22, I do hereby notify that, on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the district, the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by me to be a fire district, and I do further specify the period from the 1st day of November in any year to the 31st day of March in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said district, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations or any land-clearing operations, or grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.
SCHEDULE.
EYREWELL PLANTATION FIRE DISTRICT.—CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District containing by admeasurement 60,740 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks XII, XV, and XVI, Oxford Survey District, Blocks IX, X, XIII, XIV, XV, and XVI, Mairaki Survey District, Blocks I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, and VIII, Rolleston Survey District, and Blocks III, IV, and VIII, Hawkins Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the north-east by the south-western side of Eyre Road South; towards the east and south by Rural Section 9607; towards the south-east by Rural Sections 32745 and 32832, by a right line between the western corner of Rural Section 32832 and the north-western corner of Rural Section 32948, by the north-western boundary of Rural Section 32948 and its production to its junction with the northern bank of the Waimakariri River, and by a right line between the said junction and the junction of the southern bank of the Waimakariri River with the production of the eastern side of West Boundary Road; towards the south by the southern bank of the Waimakariri River; towards the north-west by a right line between the junction of the southern bank of the Waimakariri River with the western side of Pitt’s Road and the junction of the western boundary produced of Rural Section 32080 with the northern bank of the Waimakariri River, by the western boundary of Rural Section 32080, by a right line between the northern corner of Rural Section 32080 and the junction of the road with the western side of the water-race reserve in Block III, Hawkins Survey District, and by the water-race reserve. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan 143/9, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
