Intended Alteration in Period postponed.

Previous Notice: Wellington Notice No. 39 of 1929.

Position: On the summit of the small peaked islet (Murimotu) lying close eastward of North Cape (Otahu). Lat. 34° 25′ S., long. 173° 05′ E. (approx.).

Date of Alteration: It is intended the alteration to group-flashing, showing two flashes every forty seconds, will be made during October, 1929.

NOTE.—Information will be issued when the alteration has been made.

Bar Soundings.

Previous Notice: Wellington Notice No. 26 of 1929 (hereby cancelled).

Position: Lat. 35° 32′ S., long. 173° 21′ E., (approx.).

Details: On 28th August, 1929, a line of soundings across the bar was taken, and a least depth of 28 ft. at M.L.W.S. obtained, with the flagstaff bearing 087°.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, South Wairarapa River District, County of Featherston.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 26th September, 1929.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the River Boards Act, 1908, and amendments, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the South Wairarapa River District.

All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposal which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.


SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN SOUTH WAIRARAPA RIVER DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the northernmost corner of Section 3, Block XV, Wairarapa Survey District; thence along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 3 and 4, Block XV aforesaid, to the easternmost corner of the said Section 4; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of Te Awaawaroa No. 1 Block to Pukeo Road; thence south-easterly along that road to the western boundary of Ohaeretahi 2A 3 Block; thence along the western boundary of Ohaeretahi 2A 3 and [2A 2] to the north-western corner of the last-mentioned block; thence along the northern boundary of Ohaeretahi 2A 2, 2A 4, 2A 5, 2A 6, 2A 7, and 2A 8 Blocks to the western boundary of Waiotetuta 1B Block; thence along that boundary to the north-western corner of the said 1B Block; thence along the northern boundary of Waiotetuta 1B and 2A Blocks to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned block; thence along the eastern boundaries of Waiotetuta 2A and 2C Blocks to the northernmost corner of the land shown on plan 2864, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington; thence along the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of that land to the Ruamahanga River; thence across that river and up its left bank to the north-eastern boundary of Section 11, Dyer Settlement; thence south-easterly along that boundary to Lower Valley Road; thence south-westerly along that road to the south-western boundary of Section 22, Dyer Settlement; thence along the south-western boundary of Section 22 to the Okoura Stream; thence down the Okoura Stream to the north-eastern boundary of Section 99, Block XVI, Wairarapa Survey District; thence along that boundary to the south-eastern corner of the said Section 99; thence along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of the said Section 99 to a point 1000 links distant from the left bank of the Ruamahanga River; thence south-westerly generally along a line parallel to and distant 1000 links from the said left bank to the eastern boundary of Section 55, as shown on plan A/1100, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Wellington; thence along the eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Sections 55 and 57 on plan A/1100 aforesaid to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the Wharekaka Road; thence south-westerly along the Wharekaka Road to the Oruapouanui Stream; thence down that stream to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 73 (Waitapu), Block II, Haurangi Survey District; thence to and along that boundary to its south-western corner; thence along a right line to the north-eastern corner of original Section 74, Block II, Haurangi Survey District; thence along the northern boundary of that section to and across the Ruamahanga River; thence up the right bank of that River to the north-eastern boundary of Section 41, Block XIV, Wairarapa Survey District; thence along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of Section 41, the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of Section 15, the south-western and north-western boundaries of Section 11, and the north-western boundaries of Sections 10 and 9, Block XIV; the north-western and northern boundaries of Sections 7 and 3, Block XV, Wairarapa Survey District, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned section, the point of commencement.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Settlement Land in Canterbury Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 25th September, 1929.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land is open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, 11th November, 1929.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, at 10.30 o’clock a.m. on Thursday, 14th November, 1929, and must produce documentary evidence of their financial position or backing, farming ability and experience, and, in the case of discharged soldiers, their military discharges. If any applicant so desires he may be examined by the Land Board of any other district.

The ballot will be held immediately upon conclusion of the examination of applicants.

Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants who have one or more children dependent upon them; to landless applicants who within two years immediately preceding date of ballot have applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully; to applicants who have served beyond New Zealand as members of the Expeditionary Force; to persons engaged on military service beyond New Zealand in connection with the late war, if such persons immediately prior to the war were bona fide residents of New Zealand; and to applicants
