Promotion in the Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand Division).

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following promotion in the Royal Naval Reserve (New Zealand Division) :—

Sub-Lieutenant Hugh Wynne Jones to the rank of Lieutenant, R.N.R. (N.Z.D.), to date 2nd July, 1929.

Award of Colonial Auxiliary Long-service Medal.

Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the N.Z. Military Forces.

STAFF.

Herbert Harry Sterling, Esquire, is appointed Director of Railways, and is granted the honorary rank of Colonel. Dated 24th July, 1929.

Major A. B. Williams, D.S.O., Royal N.Z. Artillery, relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant, 3rd Field Brigade, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, but retains the appointments of Officer Commanding, Royal N.Z. Artillery, Southern Command, and Adjutant, Southern Artillery Group. Dated 31st July, 1929.

Captain W. Pollard, Royal N.Z. Artillery, is appointed Adjutant, 3rd Field Brigade, Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, vice Major A. B. Williams, D.S.O., in addition to his present duties. Dated 1st August, 1929.

THE AUCKLAND MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant M. H. Aldred to be Lieutenant. Dated 31st July, 1929.

THE REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY.

Captain J. B. S. Lockhart is transferred from the 10th Field Battery to the 18th Medium Battery, with seniority as from the 1st April, 1928. Dated 2nd August, 1929.

Lieutenant A. G. Buchanan, 8th Field Battery, to be Captain. Dated 8th May, 1929.

Lieutenant P. E. Coutts, 18th Medium Battery, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 3. Dated 2nd August, 1929.

CORPS OF N.Z. ENGINEERS.

Central Depot.

With reference to the notice published in the N.Z. Gazette, No. 25, of 11th April, 1929, relating to 2nd Lieutenant Harold Reginald Harris, for the Christian names “Harold Reginald” read “Howard Reginald.”

Southern Depot.

Major J. H. Williamson is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Central Depot, N.Z.E., Class I (b), R.D. 5. Dated 3rd August, 1929.

2nd Lieutenant W. Bryden resigns his commission. Dated 29th July, 1929.

Lieutenant W. A. E. Leonard, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Class I (b), R.D. 1. Dated 25th July, 1929.

2nd Lieutenant E. J. P. Davy, 1st Battalion, resigns his commission. Dated 18th July, 1929.

The notices published in the N.Z. Gazette, No. 1, of 10th January, 1929, relating to the undermentioned officers, is amended by substituting the date 14th September, 1928, for 18th December, 1928 :—

Lieutenant M. R. Downey, 3rd C Battalion, to be Captain. Dated 25th July, 1929.

Captain G. M. Robertson, from the Otago Regiment, to be Captain, with seniority as from the 9th May, 1928, and is posted to the 1st C Battalion. Dated 2nd August, 1929.

2nd Lieutenant J. A. Speer, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Hauraki Regiment. Dated 12th July, 1929.

2nd Lieutenant K. K. Wragge, from the Reserve of Officers, to be 2nd Lieutenant, and is posted to the 1st C Battalion. Dated 29th July, 1929.

Captain J. V. M. Cauty, from the Taranaki Regiment, to be Captain, with seniority as from the 11th August, 1927, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st August, 1929.

2nd Lieutenant M. McG. Cooper, from the Hawke’s Bay Regiment, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority as from the 14th September, 1928, and is posted to the 4th C Battalion. Dated 1st August, 1929.

The Hawke’s Bay Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant M. McG. Cooper, 1st C Battalion, is transferred to the Wellington Regiment. Dated 1st August, 1929.

Lieutenant R. A. McGurk ceases to be posted to the 3rd C Battalion, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 10th July, 1929.
