Notice to Mariners No. 23 of 1929.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—WEST COAST.—WANGANUI HARBOUR.

Changes in River Lights and Leading-beacons.

  1. Position of Mole-end Lights to be altered.
  2. River Rear Lighted Leading-beacon to be installed.
  3. Putiki Lighted Leading-beacon to be discontinued.
  4. Landguard Bluff Lighted Leading-beacon to be discontinued.

Position: Lat. 39° 57½′ S., long. 175° 03′ E. (approx.).
Date of Change: 29th May, 1929.

  1. Alteration: The two fixed red lights, situated one each at the seaward ends of North and South Moles, are to be moved to a position 40 ft. (approx.) shoreward from the extremity of each mole.

  2. Details: A white rear lighted leading-beacon exhibiting a flashing white light is to be installed southward of the South Half-tide Training Wall at the point where the upper and lower sailing courses intersect. This beacon will be situated 228½° 750 ft. from the upper red beacon, and 10½° 440 ft. from the present position of the middle red beacon.

Remarks: This beacon is to be used as a rear leading-beacon for both the upper and lower sailing courses, and it will take the place of the rear lighted leading-beacons at Putiki and at the east end of Landguard Bluff, both of which latter are to be discontinued.

  1. Details: The white rear lighted leading-beacon exhibiting a flashing white light, situated at Putiki, is to be discontinued.

Remarks: This beacon is used as a rear beacon in conjunction with the middle red beacon for the purpose of marking the lower sailing course.

  1. Details: The white rear lighted leading-beacon exhibiting a fixed white light, situated at the east end of Landguard Bluff, is to be discontinued.

Remarks: This beacon is used as a rear beacon in conjunction with the upper red beacon for the purpose of marking the upper sailing course.

Notice to Mariners No. 24 of 1929.

NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—EAST COAST.—TIMARU HARBOUR.

  1. Eastern Extension Mole Lights discontinued.
  2. Temporary Leading Lights installed.

Position: Lat. 44° 24′ S., long. 171° 19′ E. (approx.).

  1. Details: The two green lights situated at the outer end of the Eastern Extension Mole have been discontinued owing to damage resulting from heavy weather.

Remarks: It is intended to replace the two green lights by one flashing white light.

  1. Details: Two fixed red lights, 1,032 ft. apart, in transit 267½°, visible four miles, the front light 57 ft. and the rear light 80 ft. in height, have been installed on Benvenue Cliff northward of the town. The front light is situated 329½° 3,730 ft. from Timaru Harbour Lighthouse; and the arc of visibility of each light is 120°.

Remarks: These lights in transit lead 700 ft. (approx.) northward of the outer end of the Eastern Extension Mole; and they have been erected on poles which are not useable as day marks.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases and licenses of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Auckland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments.
