Open Season for the Taking or Killing of Opossums in the Nelson Acclimatization District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 3rd day of May, 1929.
Present:
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that opossums may be taken or killed within the Nelson Acclimatization District described in the Schedule hereto, except in any sanctuary other than a scenic reserve, from the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, to the thirty-first day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, both days inclusive, subject to the general regulations made by Order in Council dated the ninth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven.
And, with the like advice and consent, doth hereby further order and declare that licenses to take or kill opossums within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of two pounds ten shillings each; and doth hereby appoint the Chief Postmaster at Nelson to sign and issue such licenses to take or kill opossums.
SCHEDULE.
NELSON ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Nelson Land District bounded towards the north-west and north-east generally by Tasman Sea, Golden Bay, and Tasman Bay, from Kohaihai Bluff, in Block XIII, Whakapoai Survey District, to a point on shore of Croisilles Harbour due west of the westernmost point of Elaine Bay; thence towards the north by a right line running due east to said westernmost point of that bay and by southern shore of that bay to its south head; thence towards the south-east generally by a right line to Trig. Station Y (boundary trig.) and by a line along the summit of the range over Mount McLaren, Editor Peak, Mount Duppa, and Saddle Hill to the source of the Heringa Stream; thence by a line down the middle of that stream to its confluence with the Pelorus River; thence by a line up the middle of the Pelorus River to its source near Red Hills; thence by a right line to the summit; thence by a line along the summit of the range over Red Hills, Mount Rintoul, and Bush Cone to the summit of Wards Pass; thence by a right line to Trig. Station Top 2 (Mangatawai); thence by a line along the summit of St. Arnaud Range and the summit of the Spencer Mountains; thence towards the south-west by a line along the summit of the southern watershed of the Marnia River to Mount Haast; thence by a line due north to the right bank of the Inangahua River and along that bank to and up the left bank of the Buller River to the mouth of the Eight-mile or Boundary Creek; thence by a line up a leading spur on the western side of said Boundary Creek to Bald Hill and by a line along the summit of Lyell Range, and along the summit of a range over Mount Luna to Mount Arthur; thence towards the south-west by a line along the summit of the Western Ranges over Mount Peel and Mount Snowdon to Mount Cobb; thence towards the south-east by a line along the summit of range over Mount Domett and down a leading spur to the Tasman Sea at Kohaihai Bluff, the place of commencement.

And, with the like advice and consent, doth hereby further order and declare that licenses to take or kill opossums within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of two pounds ten shillings each; and doth hereby appoint the Chief Postmaster at Christchurch and the Postmasters at Little River and Akaroa to sign and issue such licenses to take or kill opossums.
SCHEDULE.
NORTH CANTERBURY ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Nelson, Marlborough, and Canterbury Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at Whitcombe Pass, and proceeding north-easterly along the summit of the Southern Alps and the Spencer Mountains to Mount Humboldt; thence along a right line to Barefell Pass, a right line to Palmer Saddle, and thence down the Conway River to its mouth; thence southerly along the sea-coast to Rakaia River, and up that river to its source at Whitcombe Pass, the point of commencement.

OTAGO ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Otago and Southland Land District bounded by a line commencing at Brodrick’s Pass and proceeding along the summit of the range, passing through Mount Huxley, Lindis Pass, to Mount St. Bathan’s; along a right line due east to and along the summit of the Hawkdun Range, through Mount Domet and along the summit of the Kakanui Range to the source of the Waianakarua River; down that river to the eastern boundary of Section 27, Block III, Waihemo Survey District; south-westerly along that boundary to a public road; south-easterly along that road to the eastern boundary of Section 4, Block XIV, Moeraki Survey District; along that boundary, along the northern and eastern boundaries of Block XII, Moeraki Survey District, to the northern boundary of Section 31; easterly along that boundary to the north-eastern corner of said Section 31; thence along a public road to the southern boundary of Section 43, Block IX, Moeraki Survey District; along the southern boundaries of Sections 43, 44, and 45, all in Block IX, and along the western boundary of Section 1 of 20, Block III, Moeraki, to the sea; thence by the sea to the mouth of the Mataura River; thence up the Mataura River to the north-western boundary of Section 4, Block III, Nokomai Survey District; thence north-easterly along that boundary and the
