Altering Boundaries of Wairarapa South and Featherston Counties, and including Area in Maungaraki Riding, Wairarapa South County, and in Pahaoa Riding, Featherston County.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS it is provided, inter alia, by subsection two of section fourteen of the Counties Act, 1920, that the boundaries of any two or more counties may be altered in accordance with a resolution proposing the alteration passed by the Council of each of such counties in which the Counties Act is in force:

And whereas a resolution was passed by the Wairarapa South County Council on the twenty-third day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine, praying for the alteration of the boundaries of the Wairarapa South and Featherston Counties in the manner described in the said resolution and in the First Schedule hereto:

And whereas a similar resolution was passed by the Featherston County Council on the twelfth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine:

And whereas it is expedient that such alterations be made in accordance with the said resolutions, that the area to be added to the Wairarapa South County should be included in the Maungaraki Riding of that county, and that the area to be added to the Featherston County should be included in the Pahaoa Riding of that county:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority conferred on me by the said Act, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area firstly described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Featherston County, shall be added to and form part of the Wairarapa South County; that the area secondly described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Wairarapa South County, shall be added to and form part of the Featherston County; that the boundaries of the Wairarapa South and Featherston Counties as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto; that the area added as aforesaid to Wairarapa South County shall be included in the Maungaraki Riding of the said county; that the area added as aforesaid to the Featherston County shall be included in the Pahaoa Riding of the said county; and that the boundaries of the said Maungaraki and Pahaoa Ridings as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Third Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

AREA EXCLUDED FROM FEATHERSTON COUNTY AND INCLUDED IN WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY.

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the north-western corner of Section 293, Block XIV, Wainuioru Survey District; thence along the northern and eastern boundaries of said Section 293 to the Pahaoa River; thence down the Pahaoa River to its confluence with the Wainuioru River; thence up the Wainuioru River to the northern boundary of Section 293 aforesaid, the point of commencement.

AREA EXCLUDED FROM WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY AND INCLUDED IN FEATHERSTON COUNTY.

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the north-western corner of Section 222, Block II, Mount Adams Survey District; thence along the northern boundary of Section 222 and Section 223, Block III, Mount Adams, to the north-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along the eastern and southern boundaries of said Section 223 to the north-eastern corner of Section 227, Block II aforesaid; thence along the eastern, southern, and western boundaries of said Section 227 and the western boundary of Section 222, to the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY.

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north by a right line from a point on the summit of the Tararua Range, due west of the northernmost source of the Waingawa River, to the source of that river; thence towards the north-east generally by a line along the middle of the said Waingawa River to its confluence with the Ruamahanga River; thence by a line along the middle of the said Ruamahanga River to its confluence with the Taueru River; thence by a line along the middle of the said Taueru River to a point opposite the southern boundary-line of Subdivision No. 3 of the Pukemukimuki Block; thence by a right line to that boundary-line; thence by Subdivisions
