Alterations to Scale of Charges upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1926, and its amendments, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, William Burgoyne Taverner, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of charges in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic made on the 10th day of August, 1925, and published in the Gazette of 11th August, 1925.
PART I.—PASSENGERS.
By omitting Regulation 31A :—
31a. Boy Scouts and Girl Guides.
Boy scouts and girl guides, sixteen years of age and under, in parties of not less than six in number, travelling to attend parades or instruction camps, will be issued second-class return tickets at one-half of the ordinary fare (Regulation 2), or, where applicable, at suburban fare (Regulation 40): Minimum charge, 9d., on production of a certificate in the following form :—
I hereby certify that girl guides are travelling in uniform
boy scouts
from to to attend a parade or instruction
camp at , on .
Authorized Officer.
And substituting the following :—
31a. Boy Scouts and Girl Guides.
Boy scouts and/or girl guides, not exceeding sixteen years of age, in parties of not less than six in number, travelling to attend parades or instruction camps, will be issued second-class return tickets at (a) one-half of the ordinary fare (Regulation 2), (b) holiday excursion fare (Regulation 5) when the same are issuable, or (c) where applicable, at suburban fare (Regulation 40): Minimum charge, 9d., on production of a certificate in the following form :—
I hereby certify that girl guides are travelling in uniform
boy scouts
from to to attend a parade or instruction
camp at , on .

PART II.—LUGGAGE, PARCELS, HORSES, ETC.
By omitting from paragraphs 1 and 2, Regulation 2, the following :—
(c) From any officered station on the South Island main line and branches to any station on the Picton Section or on the North Island main line and branches, except Wellington (Lambton or Thorndon).
(d) From any officered station on the Picton Section to any station on the North Island main line and branches or on the South Island main line and branches, except Wellington (Lambton or Thorndon).
(e) From Wellington Wharf to any station on the Picton Section (except Picton) or on the South Island main line and branches (except Lyttelton).
(f) From any officered station on the South Island main line and branches (except Lyttelton), or on the Picton Section (except Picton) to Wellington Wharf.
(g) Luggage will not be checked between Picton and Lyttelton.
(h) Luggage checked from or to the Wellington Wharf will be dealt with at the wharf by the Wellington Harbour Board.
- Such luggage will thereafter be held and conveyed at the risk of the Department (or of the shipping company or of the Wellington Harbour Board, as the case may be).
And substituting the following :—
(c) From any officered station on the North Island main line and branches, except Wellington (Lambton or Thorndon), or on the South Island main line and branches, including Central Booking-office, Christchurch (except Bluff), to Stewart Island.
(d) From any officered station on the South Island main line and branches, including Central Booking-office, Christchurch, to any station on the Picton Section or on the North Island main line and branches, except Wellington (Lambton or Thorndon).
(e) From Stewart Island to any station on the North Island main line and branches, except Wellington (Lambton or Thorndon), or the South Island main line and branches (except Bluff).
(f) From any officered station on the Picton Section to any station on the North Island main line and branches or on the South Island main line and branches, except Wellington (Lambton or Thorndon).
(g) From Wellington Wharf to any station on the Picton Section (except Picton) or on the South Island main line and branches (except Lyttelton), or to Stewart Island.
(h) From any officered station on the South Island main line and branches including Central Booking-office, Christchurch (except Lyttelton), or on the Picton Section (except Picton), or from Stewart Island to Wellington Wharf.
(i) Luggage will not be checked between Picton and Lyttelton.
(j) Luggage checked from or to the Wellington Wharf will be dealt with at the wharf by the Wellington Harbour Board, and will be subject to the by-laws and regulations of the Wellington Harbour Board.
(k) Luggage checked from or to Stewart Island will be dealt with at Stewart Island by the Bluff Harbour Board, and will be subject to the by-laws and regulations of the Bluff Harbour Board.
