Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, fixing the Closing-hours of (1) Hairdressers' and (2) Tobacconists' Shops within the Borough of Hawera.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing has been forwarded to me from the occupiers of shops in each of the trades of (1) hairdresser and (2) tobacconist, within the Borough of Hawera, pursuant to section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22 :
And whereas I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 32, I do hereby direct that on and after the 15th day of April, 1929, all the shops in each of the said trades within the said borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions: (1) On the working-day first preceding any of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, there shall be no fixed closing-hour; and (2) should the occupier of any shop affected by this notice observe, pursuant to section 14 (2) of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, Saturday as the statutory closing-day, then and in such case the closing-hour on Wednesday shall be 6 p.m., and the closing-hour on Friday shall be 9.30 p.m.
The notice dated the 20th September, 1921, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 22nd September, 1921, fixing the closing-hours of all the tobacconists' shops in the Borough of Hawera shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and its Amendment, prohibiting the Sale within the Borough of Hawera of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.
WHEREAS a petition in writing signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists' shops within the Borough of Hawera has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, cigars, cigarettes, and tobacco—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22 :
And whereas I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the said trade within the said borough, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 15th day of April, 1929, the sale of the said goods within the said borough shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 6 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays after the hour of 9.30 p.m., with the following exception: On the working-day first preceding any of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, the sale of the said goods is not prohibited.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, as to the Statutory Closing-day in the Borough of Palmerston.
NOTICE is hereby given that in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, and in terms of notice in writing duly received by me from the Mayor of the local authority of the Borough of Palmerston, I, William Andrew Veitch, Minister of Labour, do hereby appoint Wednesday to be the statutory closing-day for shops in the said borough as from the 20th day of May, 1929.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to an application in that behalf made to me by the Timaru Master Plumbers’ Industrial Union of Employers, registered number 1308, situated at Timaru, and in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon me by section 22 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, 1925, it is my intention to cancel the registration of that industrial union after the expiration of six weeks from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, unless in the meantime cause is shown to the contrary.
