Hauraki Plains Rating District.—Penalty on Overdue Rates.

Wellington, 26th February, 1929.
IN pursuance of section 76 of the Rating Act, 1925, and the Hauraki Plains Act, 1926, the ratepayers within the district constituted by the last-mentioned Act are hereby notified that 10 per cent. additional will be added to all rates for the year ended 31st March, 1929, unpaid on 25th March, 1929.
Rates may be paid at any money-order office or to the “Collector of Rates,” Box 1659, Auckland.

Fixing the Amount of Special Orchard-tax payable in the Thames Commercial Fruitgrowing District.—(Notice No. Ag. 2786.)
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by subsection (3) of section 4 of the Orchard-tax Act, 1927, I, George William Forbes, Minister of Agriculture, hereby order and direct that, in addition to the general orchard-tax payable under section 3 of the said Act, the occupier of every orchard within the Thames Commercial Fruitgrowing District shall in each year be liable to pay a special orchard-tax calculated at the rate of five shillings (5s.) for every acre or part of an acre comprised in his orchard.

Certain Provisions under the Mining Act, 1926, to be enforced.
In the matter of the Mining Act, 1926, and in the matter of memorandum of mortgage bearing date the eighth day of September, 1920, made between Muir’s Gold Reefs, Ltd., of the one part and His Majesty the King of the other part, and registered in the Land Registry Office at Auckland as Number 102341, and memorandum of extension and increase thereof dated the 29th November, 1922, and memorandum of further increase thereof dated the 3rd April, 1924; and also in the matter of three debentures bearing date the 8th September, 1920, the 2nd November, 1922, and the 3rd April, 1924, respectively; and in the matter of deed of further charge dated the 27th January, 1925; and in the matter of instrument by way of security dated the 5th July, 1928; all made between the same parties.
NOTICE is hereby given that Muir’s Gold Reefs, Ltd., has made default in the payment of the principal and interest moneys, and in the performance and observance of the covenants and conditions which by the above-mentioned deeds the said company covenanted to pay, perform, and/or observe: And that it is the intention of His Majesty the King, acting through the Minister of Mines, to enforce compliance with the provisions of the Mining Act, 1926, by entering into possession of the lands and mines of the said company, situate at Muir’s Reefs, Te Puke, together with all buildings, erections, machinery, working-plant, stores, and appliances on or belonging to the said lands or mines, and selling or otherwise disposing of the same.

Dismissal from the Forces.

WHEREAS it has been reported to the Public Trustee that William John von Tunzelman, latterly of H.M.S. “Dunedin,” stationed at Suva, Fiji, but formerly of Invercargill, in New Zealand, is the owner of the following property, the gross value of which is less than £1,000, namely :-

And whereas it is not known where the said William John von Tunzelman is, or whether he is alive or dead: And whereas it is provided by Part III of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908 (relating to unclaimed property, as amended by section 41 of the Public Trust Office Amendment Act, 1921–22), that when it is not known where the owner of any real or personal property is, or when it is not known whether he is alive or dead, and the value of such property does not exceed £1,000, the Public Trustee (with the consent of the Public Trust Office Board) may, by notice in the Gazette, declare his intention to exercise the powers conferred on him by section 87 of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and thereafter exercise the same without application to the Court: And whereas the said consent of the Public Trust Office Board has been duly given: Now the Public Trustee hereby gives notice that he intends to take possession of the property above mentioned, and to exercise in respect thereof the powers conferred upon him in and by the provisions of Part III of the Public Trust Office Act, 1908, and the amendments thereof.
