Notice to Mariners No. 7 of 1929.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—CAPE MARIA VAN DIEMEN.
Radio Beacon: Alteration in Means of obtaining Special Transmissions.

Former Notices: Wellington Notices Nos. 65 of 1926, and 86 of 1927.

Position: Lat. 34° 29′ S, long. 172° 39′ E. (approx.).

Alteration: Owing to curtailment of service at Awanui Radio Station ships requiring the Radio Beacon to operate for the purpose of obtaining a line of position must communicate by radio with Auckland Radio Station (V.L.D.).

Remarks: The communication should be—“Request operate Cape Maria Radio Beacon commencing [Here state time in New Zealand mean time]”; upon receipt of which the Radio Station will immediately instruct Cape Maria. The characteristics of the Radio Beacon will then be automatically transmitted for a period of thirty minutes from commencement. A charge of 2s. against such ship will be made by the Post and Telegraph Department for this service.

Note.—Masters of ships intercepting this fog-signal are requested to forward reports as to this signal’s effectiveness, and particularly as to the details of the bearings and distances at which observations were made, to the Secretary, Marine Department, Wellington, New Zealand.

CROWN LANDS NOTICE.

Land in Taranaki Land District for Sale by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
New Plymouth, 21st February, 1929.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands will be offered for sale by public auction for cash or on deferred payments at the District Lands and Survey Office, New Plymouth, at 2 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, the 26th of March, 1929, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and amendments.

The land in the First Schedule may be purchased for cash only, the land in the Second Schedule may be purchased for cash on on deferred payments.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

FOR SALE FOR CASH.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Whangamomona County.—Pouata Survey District.

SECTION 12, Block VII: Area, 21 acres 3 roods 12 perches. Upset price, £160.

This section is situated on the Tangarakau Road, about two miles and a half from its junction with the Raekohua Road. It is all in standing bush, some of which is suitable for milling.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

FOR SALE FOR CASH OR ON DEFERRED PAYMENTS.—VILLAGE LAND.

Oeo Survey District.—Pihama Village.

SECTION 49, Block I: Area, 3 acres 3 roods 20 perches. Upset price, £100.

This section is situated on the South Road in the Pihama Village. It comprises good quality flat land, in grass, and is surrounded by live hedges.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE.

  1. Cash: One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee (£1), to be paid within thirty days thereafter.

  2. Deferred Payments: Five per cent. of the purchase-money and license fee (£1 ls.) to be paid on the fall of the hammer; the balance by equal half-yearly instalments extending over 34½ years, bearing interest at the rate of 5½ per cent. per annum on the unpaid purchase-money, but with the right to pay off at any time the whole or any part of the outstanding amount.

Upon receipt of the final instalment a certificate of title in respect of the land purchased shall issue upon payment of the prescribed Crown-grant fee.

In either case, if the purchaser fails to make any of the prescribed payments by due date, the amount already paid shall be forfeited and the contract for sale of the land shall be null and void.

Titles will be subject to Part XIII of the Land Act, 1924. The lands are described for the general information of intending bidders, who are recommended, nevertheless, to made a personal inspection, as the Department is not responsible for the absolute accuracy of any description.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.

Milling-timber for Sale by Public Tender.

State Forest Service,
Hokitika, 20th February, 1929.

NOTICE is hereby given that written tenders for the purchase of the undermentioned lots of milling-timber will close at the office of the State Forest Service, Hokitika, at 4 o’clock p.m., on Monday, 11th March, 1929.

SCHEDULE.

WESTLAND FOREST-CONSERVATION REGION, WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Lot. 1.

All the milling-timber on that piece of land, containing 556 acres, situated in Blocks II and III, Kopara Survey District, portion of Provisional State Forest Reserve No. 1660, situated about twelve miles from Ruru Railway-station.

The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 840,189 or in board feet 5,012,100, made up as follows:—

Upset price: £3,928.
Ground rent: £27 16s. per annum.

TERMS OF PAYMENT.

A marked cheque for one-tenth of the purchase-money, together with half-year’s ground rent and £1 1s. (license fee), must accompany tender, and the balance be paid by nine equal quarterly instalments, the first payment to be made three months after the date of sale.

In addition, the successful tenderer shall continue to pay such ground rent half-yearly (in advance) during the currency of the license.

Lot 2.

Also all the milling-timber on that piece of land, containing 46 acres, situated in Block VIII, Kanieri Survey District, portion of Provisional State Forest Reserve No. 1616; about thirteen miles and a half from Hoho Railway-station, on the Hokitika–Greymouth railway. The total estimated quantity in cubic feet is 67,441 or in board feet 439,900 made up as follows:—

TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

  1. All instalment-payments shall be secured by “on demand” promissory notes made and endorsed to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of State Forests, and interest at the rate of 1 per cent. per annum in excess of current bank overdraft rates will be charged on all notes overdue from the date of maturity to the date of payment.
