WAIUKU TOWN BOARD.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby notify you that at a poll taken at Waiuku on Tuesday, 6th November, 1928, upon the proposal to raise a special loan of £10,338 for the purpose of installing a water-supply and reticulating the Town Area at Waiuku, the following votes were cast: For the proposal, 121 votes; against the proposal, 91 votes; informal, 1.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.

BOROUGH OF PUKEKOHE.

Result of Poll.—Proposal to raise a Loan of £8,500 for Waterworks Purposes.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Pukekohe taken on the 21st day of November, 1928, on the proposal of the Pukekohe Borough Council to borrow the sum of £8,500 for waterworks purposes, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 180; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 113.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

WAIPARA COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the County of Waipara taken on the 12th day of November, 1928, on the proposal of the Waipara County Council to raise a loan of £1,000 for improvements to Lankey Cutting and erecting a bridge over the Waitohi River, the number of votes recorded in favour of the proposal was 198; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 15.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

OTAGO CENTRAL ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the area added to the Otago Central Electric-power District, under Proclamation dated 11th July, 1928, held on the 21st day of November, 1928, on a proposal to borrow the sum of twenty-one thousand pounds (£21,000) for the purpose of—

(a) Reticulating the said area, altering existing lines, and providing for Board’s offices (£18,000);

(b) Providing assistance to consumers in the said area (£3,000);

the result of the voting was as follows: For the proposal, 50; against, 14.

I hereby declare the proposal to be carried.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by subsection (2) of section 4 of the Orchard-tax Act, 1927, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Agriculture, do hereby declare that the provisions of section 4 of the said Act shall apply with respect to the undermentioned commercial fruitgrowing districts, declared as such pursuant to the provisions in that behalf of the Fireblight Act, 1922 :—

Hawke’s Bay Commercial Fruit-growing District.

Thames Commercial Fruit-growing District.

NOTICE is hereby given that His Excellency the Governor-General has, in pursuance of section 54 of the Land Act, 1924, approved of meetings of the Otago Land Board being held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, at 10 o’clock a.m., on Wednesday, 9th January, 13th February, 13th March, 10th April, 8th May, 12th June, 10th July, 14th August, 11th September, 9th October, 13th November, and 11th December, during the year 1929.

Documents for Use in Turkey.

  1. ARRANGEMENTS have been made between the New Zealand Government, the British Government, and the Turkish Government, whereby powers of attorney and other documents intended for use in Turkey will, on certain conditions, be authenticated for that purpose by the Bureau du Contentieux of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  2. To enable these arrangements to be taken advantage of it will be necessary that documents shall first be notarially verified in the usual way, and then submitted for local authentication to the Department of Internal Affairs.

  3. Documents will then be returned to the parties to be forwarded to Turkey.

  4. Agents in Turkey should be instructed to submit the documents to the British Ambassador at Constantinople, who will arrange for their further authentication by a British Consul in Turkey and thereafter by the Turkish Bureau du Contentieux.

  5. A fee of 10s. 6d. will be charged for each document locally authenticated; the fee must be prepaid when the document is submitted to the Department.

  6. These arrangements apply to documents executed in Western Samoa and the Tokelau (Union) Islands, as well as to those executed in New Zealand (including the Cook Islands).

  7. For use before a Turkish tribunal, such documents must be accompanied by a translation made either by a Turkish consulate or by a notary public in Turkey.
