Alterations to Scale of Charges in force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1908, and its amendments, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of charges in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic made on the 10th day of August, 1925, and published in the Gazette of 11th August, 1925:—
PART 1.—PASSENGERS.
By adding to paragraph 2, Regulation 2, the following:—
(bb) Single tickets issued between two stations on separate sections of railway and which necessitate a sea journey will be available for one calendar month.
By adding to Regulation 11 the following:—
14A. Season tickets (Regulations 12, 13, 14, and 28) will be issued from any date in a month to include not less than the full month, quarter, half-year, or year following at a pro rata charge for the broken period being added to the charge for the succeeding month, quarter, half-year, or year, as the case may be. The fare for pro rata season tickets will be calculated as follows:—
Monthly tickets—1/30th of the monthly fare for each day in the unexpired portion of the broken calendar month covered by the ticket, plus the full fare for the succeeding month.
Quarterly tickets—1/90th of the quarterly fare for each day in the unexpired portion of the broken period covered by the ticket, plus the full fare for the succeeding quarter, and subject to the half-yearly fare as a maximum.
Half-yearly tickets—1/180th of the half-yearly fare for each day in the unexpired portion of the broken period, plus the full fare for the succeeding half-year, subject to the yearly fare as a maximum.
Yearly tickets—1/360th of the yearly fare for each day in the unexpired portion of the broken period, plus the full fare for the succeeding year.
By omitting from Regulation 23 the following:—
- Annual tickets, tourist tickets, and season tickets do not entitle the holders thereof to travel by race or other special or excursion trains except when the ordinary trains are entirely suspended.
By adding to Regulation 24 the following:—
2A. Provided the other provisions of paragraph 1 of this regulation are complied with, school athletic teams which travel on the outward and homeward journey on the same day, and parties of school-children travelling for the purpose of holding picnics, may be issued with tickets at the day-excursion fares. In cases where the tickets are required for an availability in excess of one day the provisions of paragraph 2 of this regulation will be applicable.
LOCAL FARES AND REGULATIONS.
By adding to paragraph 4, Regulation 41, the following:—
(g) Tickets issued under the provisions of Regulations 9, 12, 14, 16, 19, 28, 39, and 40, available between Khandallah or Ngaio and Wellington (Thorndon) will be available for travel between Kaiwarra and Wellington (Lambton).
By omitting from Regulation 41 the following:—
- (b) These tickets will be issued on Saturdays and Sundays as may from time to time be determined by the Department, and will be available for return up to and including the first following Monday in each case.
And substituting the following:—

(b) These tickets will also be issued from Wellington (Thorndon), Ngaio, and Khandallah to Tawa Flat, Porirua, Paremata, Plimmerton, Pukerua Bay, Paekakariki, Paraparaumu, Waikanae, Te Horo, and Otaki, and from Johnsonville to Plimmerton, Paekakariki, Paraparaumu, Waikanae, Te Horo, and Otaki, by trains leaving Wellington after 4 p.m. on Fridays. The tickets issued on Fridays will be available for return up to and including the first following Monday in each case.

(c) These tickets will be issued on Saturdays and Sundays as may from time to time be determined by the Department, and will be available for return up to and including the first following Monday in each case.
By omitting from Regulation 43 the following:—
- The following fares will be charged for through booking by rail and steamer between Dunedin and Portobello:—
