The total live births registered for the urban areas amounted to 1,073 as against 980 in June, an increase of 93. The deaths in July were 671—an increase of 139 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 347, females 324. Eighty of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 11.92 per cent. of the whole number. Sixty-one of these were under one year of age.
The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for July, 1928, and seven months ended July, 1928, were as follows. The infant mortality and still-birth rates per 100 births for the same period are also given.
