to be an Inspector of Sea-fishing under the first-mentioned Act.

PETER ANGUS MACFIE, ESQUIRE, of Bazaar Street,
Maryborough, Queensland, a Solicitor of the Supreme
Court of Queensland, has this day been appointed by the
Honourable Sir Charles Perrin Skerrett, K.C.M.G., Chief
Justice of New Zealand, a Commissioner of the Supreme
Court of New Zealand in Queensland, under the 47th section
of the Judicature Act, 1908, for the purpose of administering
and taking all such oaths, affidavits, and affirmations as in
the said section mentioned.

SPECIAL ORDER MERGING ROAD BOARDS.
THAT, in pursuance and in exercise of the provisions of
section 30 of the Counties Act, 1920, and section 4 of the
Counties Amendment Act, 1927, the Waikato County Council
resolves by special order that the Road Boards of the Whanga-
marino, Tamahere, and Cambridge Road Districts be dis-
solved, and that the aforesaid road districts be merged in the
County of Waikato, to take effect as from the 1st day of
April, 1928.
I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly
made.

Date of Election by Fire-insurance Companies to fill Extra-
ordinary Vacancy on the Eltham Fire Board.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1926, I, Francis
Joseph Rolleston, being the Minister charged with the
administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Wednesday,
the 22nd February, 1928, to be the date for holding the
election of one member of the Eltham Fire Board by the fire-
insurance companies concerned, such election being held to
fill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of
Mr. Maurice W. Allom.

Open Season for Deer-shooting, Ashburton (Rangitata Gorge)
Acclimatization District.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Francis Joseph
Rolleston, Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 2nd
day of April, 1928, to the 11th day of May, 1928 (both days
inclusive), to be an open season in the Ashburton Acclimati-
zation District for the taking or killing of the following imported
game—viz., red-deers tags and hinds—within that part of the
said acclimatization district described in the First Schedule
hereto, subject to the following conditions.
CONDITIONS.
-
LICENSES to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds may be
issued by the Postmaster at Ashburton, upon the recom-
mendation of the Secretary of the Ashburton Acclimatization
Society, on payment of a license fee of £5, in the form prescribed
in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act
and regulations thereunder and this notification. The number
of such licenses to be issued by the said Postmaster shall not
exceed three: Provided that not more than one such license
shall be issued to the same person; and also that if the number
of applications received for licenses exceeds the number of
available licenses, then the persons to whom such licenses are
to be issued shall be decided by ballot. -
No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either
himself or any attendant he may have with him. Ball car-
tridge only to be used; provided that no metal-patched or
metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer. -
Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing
any person to sell any deer or portion thereof. -
Regulations as to the use of marks of identification of
deer-heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under the
Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, published in the
