Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 20th July, 1928.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Palmerston North Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

PALMERSTON NORTH BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Special Loan.

IN pursuance of section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Palmerston North, taken on the 29th day of June, 1928, on a proposal to borrow the sum of £11,000 to enable the Council to erect a building for a library and to include therein shops and offices, the result of the voting was as follows: For the proposal, 948; against the proposal, 382; informal, 4; majority in favour, 566.

I therefore declare that the above-named proposal was duly carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor, Napier Borough Council, is published in accordance with provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of that part of the Borough of Napier called in the voting-paper “The Napier South Extension Special-rating Area,” taken on the 11th day of July, 1928, on the proposal to raise by way of loan the sum of £6,000 for the purpose of carrying out in the Napier South Extension Special-rating Area the following works and things:—

Kerbing and channelling and drainage-pits .. £ 785
Forming up and tarring paths and metalling road- ways where necessary .. .. .. 1,060
Sewerage-pumps, pumping-station, reticulation, and man-holes .. .. .. .. 2,535
Water mains, valves, hydrants, trenching and laying 1,260
Laying drainage services up to the boundaries of properties .. .. .. .. 360

£6,000

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 42; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 1.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Private C. H. Valler, 1st Battalion, Wellington Regiment.

Transmitting and Receiving Officer for the Service of Notices by Telegraph.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon me by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), and by the regulations made on the 12th May, 1914, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 21st May, 1914, the following officer, at the address set against his name, is hereby appointed Transmitting and Receiving Officer for the purpose of dealing with all notices by telegraph sent under the said Act or regulations, and of signing such certificates in relation to the service of any such notices as are required or authorized to be signed or given under the said Act or the regulations aforesaid.

Child Welfare Amendment Act, 1927.

IN pursuance of the power vested in me by section 6, subsection (1), of the Child Welfare Amendment Act, 1927, I, Robert Alexander Wright, Minister of Education, do hereby notify that the premises set forth in the Schedule below have been registered as from the date hereof as a children’s home for the purposes of the said Act.
