Tenders for Inland Mail-service Contracts—South Island, 1929–31.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 9th July, 1928.

SEALED tenders will be received at the several Chief Post-offices in the South Island until noon on Thursday, the 23rd August, 1928, for the conveyance of mails between the undermentioned places, for a period of THREE YEARS, from the 1st January, 1929:—

POSTAL DISTRICT OF BLENHEIM.

  1. Blenheim Chief Post-office, delivery of parcels and postmen’s bags, as required.

  2. Blenheim, Jordan, and Molesworth, weekly.

  3. Blenheim and Netherwood (private-bag delivery), twice weekly.

  4. Blenheim and Omaka, along Maxwell Road, over Taylor River-bed, New Renwick Road to Fairhall Valley, back to the Omaka Settlement, Dove Point Road, to Middle Renwick Road, Jordan Cross, and old Renwick Roads (rural delivery), thrice weekly.

  5. Blenheim, Onamalutu, Fabian’s Valley, Pine Valley, and Te Rou, twice weekly.

  6. Blenheim Railway-station, vessels in river, and Chief Post-office, as required.

  7. (a) Blenheim, Renwicktown, Waihopai, Wairau Valley, Hillersden, and Birch Hill, thrice weekly.
    (b) Birch Hill and Branch River, twice weekly.

  8. Blenheim, Robin Hood Bay, Ocean Bay, Hakahaka, Whangataura, and Hakana, weekly.

  9. Blenheim, Seddon, Ward, Kekerangu, Clarence Bridge, Mangamaunu, Hapuka Schoolhouse, and Kaikoura, daily. (Alternative to No. 10.)

  10. Blenheim, Seddon, Ward, Kekerangu, Clarence Bridge, Mangamaunu, Hapuku Schoolhouse, Kaikoura, Conway Fingerpost, Hundalee, Oaro, and Parnassus, daily. (Alternative to No. 9 and No. 50, Christchurch District.)

  11. Blumine Island, Onauku, Otanerau, Greensill, Wharehunga, and Kilmarnock, weekly. (Contractor to take delivery of mails off Blumine Island from mail launch proceeding from Picton to Resolution Bay.)

  12. Canvastown and Deep Creek, twice weekly.

  13. Havelock, Brightlands, Elaine Bay, Waitata Bay, Bulwer, Port Ligar, Forsyth Island, Wakatahuri, Te Puru, Okoha, Anakoha, Titirangi, Pohuenui, Waimaru, Clova Bay, Manaroa, Hopai, Eli Bay, Crail Bay, Taranui, Homewood, and Havelock, twice weekly. (Alternative to Nos. 14 and 25.)

  14. Havelock, Brightlands, Elaine Bay, Te Towaka, Waitata Bay, Bulwer, Port Ligar, Forsyth Island, Wakatahuri, Te Puru, Okoha, Anakoha, Titirangi, Pohuenui, Beatrix Bay, Waimaru, Clova Bay, Manaroa, Hopai, Eli Bay, Crail Bay, Taranui, Homewood, and Havelock, twice weekly. (Alternative to Nos. 13 and 25.)

  15. Havelock, Broughton Bay, Portage, Kenepuru Head, Waitaria Bay, and St. Omer, twice weekly. (Alternative to No. 26.)

  16. Havelock, Brownlees, Ohingaroa, Mahau, Nikau Bay, Tamure, Yncyca Bay, South East Bay, Te Rawa, Tira Ora, Hamilton’s, The Reef, Nydia Bay, Maori Bay, Wells, Pinohia, Whatanihi, and Havelock, twice weekly.

  17. Havelock, Mahakipawa, Grove, and Grove Wharf (with extra trip between Mahakipawa and Grove Wharf when morning service connects with Wellington steamer at Picton), thrice weekly.

  18. (a) Picton, Cannibal Cove, and Anakakata (private-bag delivery), weekly.
    (b) Anakakata and Port Gore (private-bag delivery), fortnightly.

  19. Picton, Golden Point, Dryden’s Bay, Pukekoikoi, Endeavour Inlet, and Resolution Bay, weekly.

  20. Picton, Maraetai Bay, Onapua, Redheugh, Dacre’s Bay, Te Pangu, and Te Awaiti, weekly.

  21. Picton and Portage, twice weekly. (Alternative to No. 22.)
