Sail Point: Light established.
Position: On the summit of Sail Point. Lat. 36° 11½' S., long. 174° 03½' E. (approx.).
Abridged Description: Fl. ev. 5 sec., 65 ft., 6 M.
Character: Flashing white every five seconds, thus: Flash, ¼ sec.; eclipse, 4¾ sec.
Elevation: 65 ft. (19m8).
Visibility: 6 miles.
Structure: White circular iron tower, 9 ft. (2m7) in height.

NOTICE is hereby given that the leases and licenses of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited by resolution of the North Auckland Land Board, the said lands have thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments.

THE following Notice to Mariners, which has been received from the Commonwealth Lighthouse Service, Melbourne, is published for general information.

AUSTRALIA.—SOUTH COAST.
Cape Banks: Alteration in Light.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the alternating flashing white and red light on Cape Banks was replaced by a group-flashing white light (U), on 1st June, 1928.
Previous Notice: No. 1 of 1928.
Position: On Carpenter Rocks Point. Lat. 37° 54½' S., long. 140° 23' E., on Chart No. 1062.
Alterations:—
(a) The character of the light has been altered from alternating flashing white and red to group-flashing white showing two flashes every fifteen seconds, thus: Flash, ¼ sec.; eclipse, 1½ sec.; flash, ¼ sec.; eclipse, 13 sec.
(b) The power of the light has been increased from 5,000 candles to 72,000 candles.
(c) The elevation of the light is 83 ft.
(d) The height of the white circular stone tower is 46 ft.
(e) The light is unwatched. The lightkeepers have been withdrawn, and the signal station discontinued.
Remarks: In other respects the light remains unaltered. No further notice will be given.
