(2) Whether, in the event of your reporting under the last preceding paragraph hereof in favour of a system of classification of lands, or differential rating, or both, or in favour of some other means of variation of rating, in the Borough of Feilding, it is in your opinion practicable or desirable to apply the system or means so recommended by you to boroughs which include or formerly included lands used and occupied for farming purposes; and, if so, by what method:

(3) Such other matters affecting or incidental to the foregoing as may come under notice in the course of your inquiries and as you may think it necessary and desirable to consider:

And with the like advice and consent I do further appoint you, the said Robert Mackenzie Watson, to be the Chairman of the said Commission:

And you are hereby authorized to conduct any inquiry under these presents at such times and places as you deem expedient, with power to adjourn from time to time and place to place as you think fit, and to call before you and examine on oath or otherwise such persons as you think capable of affording you information as to the matters aforesaid, and to call for and examine all such books, papers, writings, documents, and records as you deem likely to afford you the fullest information on any such matters:

And using all due diligence, you are required to report to me, under your hands and seals, not later than the fourteenth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight:

And you are hereby strictly charged and directed that you shall not at any time publish or otherwise disclose, save to me in pursuance of these presents or by my direction, the contents or purport of any report so made or to be made by you:

And it is hereby declared that this Commission shall continue in full force and virtue although the inquiry be not regularly continued from time to time or from place to place by adjournment:

And lastly, it is hereby further declared that these presents are issued under and subject to the provisions of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908.

Changing the Purpose of Reserve 4083, Block XI, Christchurch Survey District, Canterbury Land District.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been duly set apart as a reserve for public purposes, being a purpose within Class II of the Second Schedule of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908:

And whereas it is expedient that such land should be appropriated for recreation purposes, being a purpose within Class III of the said Second Schedule:

Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the eleventh section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, do by this notification declare that the said land shall, from and after the sixteenth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, be appropriated for recreation purposes under Class III of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908; and I do hereby direct that this notification shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District containing by admeasurement 1 rood 9·6 perches, more or less, and being Reserve No. 4083 (formerly Lot 18 on deposit plan No. 6101), situated in Block XI, Christchurch Survey District, and bounded as follows: Towards the north-west and north by Lot 17 on said deposit plan No. 6101, 199·85 and 100·7 links respectively; towards the east by Idris Road, 75·15 links; and again towards the south-east and south-west by Lots 2, 3, and 11 on deposit plan No. 3864, 228·95 and 130·5 links respectively: As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 6/1/438, deposited in Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 6th day of July, 1928.

Delegating to the Geraldine County Council Powers in respect to a proposed Private Bridge over the Waihi River in Block I, Geraldine Survey District.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority vested in me by section one hundred and sixty-five of the Counties Act, 1920, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby delegate to the Geraldine County Council all the powers vested in me by section one hundred and sixty-three and one hundred and sixty-four of the aforesaid Act in respect to the bridge described in the Schedule hereto, subject to the condition that any regulations desired to be made by the Geraldine County Council under paragraphs (b), (c), and (d), of section one hundred and sixty-four of the said Act shall be subject to the approval of the Minister of Public Works.

SCHEDULE.

THAT proposed bridge in the Canterbury Land District over the Waihi River near the north-eastern corner of Rural Section 3156, Block I, Geraldine Survey District. As the same is delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 72313, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 9th day of July, 1928.

Specifying Districts in which Local Restoration Poll to be taken at next General Licensing Poll.

WHEREAS by reason of changes in electoral districts each of the licensing districts mentioned in the Schedule hereto is a new district within the meaning of section twelve of the Licensing Amendment Act, 1910, in which the grant of licenses is, by reason of a former licensing poll, prohibited throughout an area thereof containing more than half the population of the district:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers vested in me by that section, and for the purposes of paragraphs (c) and (d) of that section, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet,
