Land in Canterbury Land District for Lease by Ballot.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Christchurch, 25th January, 1928.

NOTICE is hereby given that applications for a lease of
the undermentioned land will be received at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, up to 4 o’clock
p.m. on Tuesday, 20th March, 1928.

SCHEDULE.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—CHEVIOT COUNTY.—FIRST-
CLASS AGRICULTURAL LAND.

SECTION 22, Block XI, Cheviot Survey District. Area,
3 acres 1 rood 14 perches. Capital value, £200. Annual
rental, £10.

Weighted with £80, valuation for buildings, to be repaid by
a cash payment of £30 and twenty half-yearly instalments of
£3 4s. 9d.

The lease is for a term of sixty-six years with right of
renewal.

Part of what has hitherto been known as the Harbour-
master’s Reserve at Port Robinson.

Applicants will require to appear before the Land Board
on Wednesday, 21st March, at 3 o’clock p.m., for examination.
The ballot will be held immediately on the conclusion of the
examination, and the successful applicant will require to pay
a half-year’s rent, instalment on buildings, and £1 1s. lease fee.

Title will be subject to Part XIII of the Land Act, 1924.

deferred payments at the North Auckland District Lands and
Survey Office, Auckland, at 10.30 o’clock a.m. on Tuesday,
6th March, 1928, under the provisions of the Land Act,

Situated just off the Great South Road. About five
minutes walk to Ellerslie Railway-station and School, and
about eight minutes from Great South Road tram-terminus.
Soil is rich volcanic, and there is evidence of rock on some
of the sections. Most of lots are gently sloping, but 42,
43, 44, and 48 are low-lying. Generally speaking, the land
is clear from noxious weeds. Admirably suited for residential
purposes, being within half an hour’s journey from Auckland
by either train, tramcar, or motor-bus.

Terms of Sale.

  1. Cash.—One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on
    the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee
    (£1), to be paid within thirty days thereafter.

  2. Deferred Payments.—Five per cent. of the purchase-
    money and license fee (£1 1s.) to be paid on the fall of the
    hammer, and the balance by equal half-yearly instalments ex-
    tending over 34½ years, bearing interest at the rate of 5½ per
    cent. per annum on the unpaid purchase-money, but with the
    right to pay off at any time the whole or any part of the out-
    standing amount.

Upon receipt of the final instalment a certificate of title in
respect of the land purchased shall issue upon payment of the
prescribed Crown-grant fee.

In either case, if the purchaser fails to make any of the
prescribed payments by due date, the amount already paid
shall be forfeited and the contract for sale of the land shall be
null and void.

Titles will be subject to Part XIII of the Land Act, 1924,
and section 85 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1925.

The lands are described for the general information of in-
tending bidders, who are recommended, nevertheless, to make
a personal inspection, as the Department is not responsible
for the absolute accuracy of any description.

STATE FOREST SERVICE NOTICE.

Notice as to Areas declared to be Fire Districts.

State Forest Service,
Wellington, 25th January, 1928.

PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22,
I do hereby notify that, on the recommendation of
the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the district,
the areas described in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared
by me to be fire districts, and I do further specify the period
from the 16th day of October in any year to the 15th day of
April in the following year, inclusive, as the period during
which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said
districts, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest
Officer, to set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any timber
(whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris
from forest operations, or any land-clearing operations, or
grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking
such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—RIVERHEAD FOREST
FIRE DISTRICT.

Total Area: 17,600 Acres (approximately).

ALL that area, containing 17,600 acres (approximately),
including public roads and riparian reserves, situated in
Blocks I, II, V, and VI, Waitemata Survey District, Blocks IV
and VII, Kumeu Survey District; Block XV, Kaipara Survey
District; and Blocks XIII and XIV, Waiwera Survey Dis-
trict: in the Parishes of Paremoremo, Ararimu, Mairetahi,
and Pukeatua, in the County of Waitemata: bounded generally
as follows: Commencing at the north-east corner of Section 278,
Block XIV, Waiwera Survey District, and following the
Rangitopuni Stream to its junction with the Waotiti Stream;
thence by the Waotiti Stream; thence by the northern and
eastern boundaries of Section 61, Block V, Waitemata Survey
District; thence by the south side of a road to the
Kumeu River; thence by the said river to the south-
west corner of Lot 7, Section 50, Block VII, Kumeu
Survey District; thence by the western boundary of the
said Lot 7 of Section 50 to the Ararimu Valley public road;
thence by the northern and western boundaries of the said
public road to the south-eastern corner of Section S 56,
Block XIII, Waiwera Survey District; thence by the southern
boundary of Sections S 56 and 57; thence by a road to the
