Notice as to Area in Wellington Land District declared to be a Fire District.

State Forest Service,
Wellington, 25th January, 1928.

PURSUANT to section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, I do hereby notify that, on the recommendation of the Director of Forestry and the Land Board of the district, the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared by me to be a fire district, and I do further specify the period from the 1st day of November in any year to the 31st day of March in the following year, inclusive, as the period during which it shall not be lawful for any person within the said districts, save pursuant to the written permit of a Forest Officer, to set on fire, or cause to be set on fire, any timber (whether standing or not), or any undergrowth, or any debris from forest operations, or any land-clearing operations, or grass or other specially inflammable material, without taking such precautions as may be prescribed by a Forest Officer.

SCHEDULE.

KARIOI FOREST FIRE DISTRICT.—WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area, containing by admeasurement 69,000 acres, more or less, situated in Blocks XII and XVI, Ruapehu Survey District, Blocks IX, X, XIII and XIV, Kaimanawa Survey District, Blocks IV, VI, VII, VIII, X, XI, XII, XIV, XV, and XVI, Karioi Survey District, Blocks I, II, V, IX, and XIII, Moawhango Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the east by the Waiouru-Tokaanu Road; towards the south by Section 112 Raketapauma Block, Section 2B, Murimotu Block, Sections 1A 1, 3A 2, Raketapauma Block, Sections 4D 2, 4E, No. 2B Rangiwaea Block; towards the south-west by Sections 4E No. 2A, 4C No. 2A, 4F No. 2B, 4F 2A No. 2, 4F No. 3A, Rangiwaea Block; towards the west by Sections 4F 4B, 4F 4D, 4F 9, Rangiwaea Block, a public road, to the North Island Main Trunk Railway; towards the north, north-west, south-west, and again towards north-west by a fire district (Gazette, 1922, page 2873). As the same is more particularly delineated on plan numbered 62/15, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Kaitaia Drainage District.—Notice of Intention to make and levy Rates.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is intended, pursuant to the Swamp Drainage Act, 1915, and its amendments, to make and levy a special rate to meet interest and sinking fund on capital for the period from the 1st April, 1927, to 31st March, 1928, on the unimproved value of all land other than the land comprising the Kaitaia Town District within the district constituted under the said Act.

The amount of such rate shall be payable in one sum on the 16th February, 1928.

The valuation roll of the district is open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Chief Drainage Engineer's Office, 5 Law Court Buildings, High Street, Auckland, at all times at which that office is open for the transaction of public business.
