Officiating Minister for 1928.—Notice No.19.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Marriage Act, 1908, the following names of Officiating Ministers within the meaning of the said Act are published for general information :—
The Church of the Province of New Zealand, commonly called the Church of England.
The Reverend Charles William Whitacre.

The Methodist Church of New Zealand.
The Reverend Frederick John Bovett,
The Reverend Raymond Dudley,
The Reverend Charles Melville Newton.

ERRATUM.—In Notice No. 1, published in New Zealand Gazette on the 26th January, 1928, page 212, under “The Presbyterian Church of New Zealand,” for “The Reverend Andrew Joseph Smaill” (as returned), read “The Reverend Andrew William Smaill.”

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—HAWKE'S BAY.—WAIKOKO PU.
Wharf Light to be re-established.

Previous Notice.—Wellington Notice No. 14 of 1925.
Position.—Lat. 39° 04' S., long. 177° 50' E. (approx.). Date of Re-establishment.—14th June, 1928.
Details.—This light is to be re-established on the roof of the shelter-shed on the wharf at Waikokopu Creek Mouth, at a position 240 ft. from the wharf-end; and at a height of 18 ft. above M.H.W.S.
The light is fixed, and shows red from 196° through west to 299° ; green thence to 341° ; white thence to where cut off by land.
Remarks.—The green sector is intended to mark an anchorage for coasting ships.

New certificates have been issued to replace B1793 and B419 and have marked on the face thereof the words “Replacing lost certificate.”

Any person making illegal use of any registration certificate is liable to a penalty of £20.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Land in Taranaki Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Taranaki Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments.

Settlement Lands in North Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for selection on renewable lease under the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, and applications will be received at the North Auckland District Lands and Survey Office, Auckland, up to 4 o'clock p.m., on Thursday, 12th July, 1928.

Preference at the ballot will be given to landless applicants who have one or more children dependent on them ; to landless applicants who within two years immediately preceding date of ballot have applied for land at least twice unsuccessfully ; to applicants who have served beyond New Zealand as members of the Expeditionary Force ; to persons engaged on military service beyond New Zealand in connection with the late war, if such persons immediately prior to the war were bona fide residents of New Zealand ; and to applicants who, while domiciled in New Zealand, have served beyond New Zealand as members of any of His Majesty's Forces in connection with any war other than the war with Germany.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND. SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Otamatea County.—Matakohe Survey District.—Bickerstaffe Settlement.

SECTION 1, Block XV : Area, 335 acres 2 roods. Capital value, £2,400. Half-yearly rent, £60.

Weighted with £385, valuation for buildings consisting of six-roomed kauri house, wash-house, cowshed, engine-room, two sheds, concrete cistern (7,000 gals.), in state of disrepair ; to be paid for in cash or in twenty years by forty half-yearly instalments of £15 9s. Total half-yearly payment on lease, £75 9s.

Section 3, Block XV : Area, 402 acres. Capital value, £2,415. Half-yearly rent, £60 7s. 6d.

Weighted with £490, valuation for improvements consisting of house and 74 chains of fencing, payable in cash.

Sections are situated four miles from Huarau Railwaystation, two miles and a half from Marohemo School, and ten miles from Maungaturoto Dairy Factory.

Section 1 : About 150 acres good clean pasture (mostly rattail and paspalum), 130 acres very bad with gorse ; balance tea-tree, with a little grass. Poorly watered by several swampy gullies. Divided into about ten paddocks, 150 chains subdivisional fencing and 115 chains boundary-fencing, mostly poor order.

Section 3 : About 120 acres good clean pasture (mostly rattail), 50 acres poor tea-tree land, 10 acres cabbage trees and manuka, 50 acres solid gorse ; balance little grass, bad with gorse. Divided into five paddocks. Included in capital value : 261 chains of fencing, valued at £106 10s. Weighted for improvements consisting of 74 chains of fencing, six-roomed dwelling (built of first-class kauri), store-room, wash-house, shearing-shed, and cowshed. Dwelling fitted with several conveniences. Would be worth much more if land not so deteriorated. Sections suitable for grazing.

ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Term of lease : Thirty-three years, with a perpetual right of renewal for a further successive term of thirty-three years, and a right to acquire the freehold.

  2. Rent : Five per cent. per annum on the capital value, payable in advance on 1st January and 1st July in each year.

  3. Applicants to be twenty-one years of age and upwards.

  4. Applicants to furnish with applications statutory declaration, and, on being declared successful, deposit £l ls. (lease fee) and a half-year's rent. Rent for the broken period between date of lease and 1st January or 1st July following is also payable.

  5. Applications made on the same day are deemed to be simultaneous.

  6. No person may hold more than one allotment.

  7. Successful applicants to execute lease within thirty days after being notified that it is ready for signature.

  8. Lessee to reside continuously on the land, and pay all rates, taxes, and assessments.
