Land taken for the Purposes of a Street in the Borough of Riccarton.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a street, and shall vest in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Riccarton, as from the date hereinafter mentioned; and I do also declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on and after the fifth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight.


SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land taken: 16·2 perches. Being portion of Rural Section 95, situated in Borough of Riccarton (Canterbury R.D.). (S.O. 2034.)

In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 71824, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured pink.

Fixing Number of Members of Tamaki Road Board to be Councillors of City of Auckland.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 24th day of April, 1928.

Present :
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Proclamation made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, dated the twenty-eighth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, and published in New Zealand Gazette Number 27 of the twenty-ninth day of the same month, page 884, the City of Auckland and the Tamaki Road District were constituted one united borough as on and from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight (hereinafter referred to as the “said united borough”), and the said united borough so constituted was proclaimed to be a city by the name of the City of Auckland :

And whereas it is expedient to fix the number of members of the Tamaki Road Board, to be chosen by that Board, to be Councillors of the said united borough in addition to the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Auckland until the first biennial election of Councillors next to be held :

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by section one hundred and forty of the said Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby fix at two the number of members of the Tamaki Road Board to be chosen by that Board to be Councillors of the said united borough, in addition to the Mayor and Councillors of the City of Auckland, until the first biennial election of Councillors next to be held.

Member appointed to Hundalee Scenic Reserves Board.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the twenty-sixth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, and published in the Gazette of the first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, the control of certain reserves in the Marlborough Land District, known as the Hundalee Scenic Reserves, were vested in certain persons therein named, who were by the said Warrant constituted a special Board by the name of the Hundalee Scenic Reserves Board, in pursuance of section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 :

And whereas it is desirable that Patrick Curran, of Kaikoura, should be appointed a member of the said Board, in place of John Gilman Sharp Dunn, resigned :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby appoint the said Patrick Curran to be a member of the Hundalee Scenic Reserves Board constituted by the Warrant dated the twenty-sixth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, hereinbefore referred to, in place of the said John Gilman Sharp Dunn.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 20th day of April, 1928.

I, GENERAL SIR CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance of the Samoa Act, 1921, appoint you, Stephen Shepherd Allen, to be Administrator of Western Samoa, and to hold that office during my pleasure, and I declare that this appointment shall take effect on and from the third day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, at Government House, Auckland, this 14th day of April, 1928.

IN pursuance of the Samoa Act, 1921, and its amendments, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Alexander William Johnston to fill the seat of Olaf Frederick Nelson on the Legislative Council of Western Samoa, which has become vacant by the operation of clause eight (a) of the Samoa Legislative (Elective Membership) Order, 1923.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 19th day of April, 1928.
