To the Warden of the Otago Mining District, at Lawrence.
PURSUANT to the Mining Act, 1926, the undersigned, Joseph Stephens, of Allanton, Agent, hereby applies for a license for extension of a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.
Precise time of marking out privilege applied for: 23rd March, 1928, at 10 a.m.; pegs marked X.
Date and number of miner’s right: 1st April, 1927; No. 9550.
Address for service: Office of Robert C. Moore, Solicitor, Ross Place, Lawrence.

SCHEDULE.
Locality of the race, and of its starting and terminal points: Commencing at termination of water-race held by applicant under License No. 1067, dated 28th June, 1927, in Section 9, Block VII, Tuapeka East District, Crown land, then following course of old race and pipe-line formerly held by the Havelock Sluicing Company, Limited, under License No. 176 dated 29th July, 1907, through Crown land to Section 26, Block VI, Tuapeka East; thence through said Section 26 (freehold of Archibald Bateman); thence through commonage in Block X, Waitahuna East District; thence through Sections 47, Block X, and 29, Block VII, Waitahuna East (freehold of John Walker); thence north to a point in west boundary of Section 17, Block VI, Tuapeka East District (freehold of John Walker), (the end of old Havelock Company’s race); thence by pipe-line through Section 41, Block V, Tuapeka East District (freehold of John Walker), crossing railway-line and county road by pipe through existing culvert; thence by pipe-line through Section 27, Block V, Tuapeka East District (freehold of Martha McCaw), into and terminating in claim applied for by applicant under Application No. 6/28 on Sections 92A and part 93, Block V, Tuapeka East District, occupation leasehold held by John Blair. Application is also made for grant of strip of land 12 ft. wide on bottom side of race and 8 ft. on top side of race where race is open, and a strip of land 4 ft. wide on each side where race is by pipe-line.
Length and intended course of race extension: Six miles; south-westerly, westerly, northerly, and westerly.
Points of intake: One commencing-point.
Estimated time and cost of construction: One year; £4,000.
Mean depth and breadth: 2 ft.; 4 ft.; (pipes, 20 in. to 22 in. diameter).
Number of heads to be diverted: Fifteen.
Purpose for which water is to be used: Mining.
Proposed term of license: Twenty-one years.

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the NORTHERN TRADING COMPANY, LTD., held at the office of Messrs. Kendon, Mills, and Stewart, Public Accountants, Chancery Chambers, O’Connell Street, Auckland, the following extraordinary resolutions were duly passed:—
“That it having been proved to the satisfaction of the company that it cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, it is advisable to wind up the same, and that accordingly the company go into voluntary liquidation forthwith.”
“That WILLIAM ARCHIBALD KENDON, of Auckland, Public Accountant, be and is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purpose of winding up the company.”

NOTICE is hereby given that the Wellington City Council proposes, under the provisions of the above-named Acts, and all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, to execute a certain public work,—namely, for the purposes of an electric substation site at the corner of Grafton Road and The Crescent, in the City of Wellington—and for the purpose of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken:
And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, in the Town Hall, Cuba Street, in the said city, and there open for inspection, without fee, by all persons during ordinary office hours, and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or the taking of such land should, if they have well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said land, set forth the same in writing, and
