give notice that the said duty will be payable accordingly.
Additional tax will accrue if the tax is not paid on or before
lst March, 1928. The liability to pay is not suspended by
any objection. The tax should be paid on or before the
prescribed date, otherwise the additional percentage accrues ;
any overpayment will be adjusted by refund.
The demands will be posted from the office of the Com-
missioner of Taxes on or about 31st January, 1928. Demands
must be presented with all payments, and taxpayers who
expect a demand and do not receive one should notify me
of the fact.

Wellington Education Board.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Education Board of
the District of Wellington requires to take the land
with improvements as described hereunder, namely :-
City of Wellington : The land adjoining the Kilbirnie
School site, comprising Lot 6 on D.P. 679, with frontage to
Smith Street 37 ft. 5 in.; back line, 37 ft. 8 in.; east, 138 ft.
7 in.; west, 138 ft. 10 in. : Area, 19 perches.
The above area is required for the purpose of a public work
-namely, for a public school within the meaning of the
Education Act, 1914 : And notice is hereby given that a plan
of the above area is open for inspection at the office of the
said Board in Mercer Street, in the City of Wellington.
All persons affected by such taking are hereby required to
set forth in writing well-grounded objection to the execution
of such works or the taking of such land, and to send such
writing within forty days from the first publication of this
notice to the said Board.

The Loughnan Settlement is situated in the Palmerston
North Borough, about one mile from the post-office, and only
a few chains from the Terrace-end Railway-station. The
municipal bus service is available in this locality. The
sections comprise ideal building-sites with good access roads.

clay resting on clay formation. Poorly watered. Level to
undulating land.
Improvements consist of fencing, ploughing, and grassing.
Also stable and cowshed, and another shed, 20 ft. by 12 ft.
very old, on Section 54.
Terms of Sale.

  1. Cash.--One-fifth of the purchase-money to be paid on
    the fall of the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee
    (£1), to be paid within thirty days thereafter.
  2. Deferred Payments.--Five per cent. of the purchase-
    money and license fee (£1 ls.) to be paid on the fall of the
    hammer, the balance by equal half-yearly instalments extend-
    ing over 34½ years, bearing interest at the rate 5½ per cent.
    per annum on the unpaid purchase-money; but with the
    right to pay off at any time the whole or any part of the out-
    standing amount.
    Upon receipt of the final instalment a certificate of title in
    respect of the land purchased shall issue upon payment of the
    prescribed Crown-grant fee.
    In either case, if the purchaser fails to make any of the
    prescribed payments by due date, the amount already paid
    shall be forfeited and the contract for sale of the land shall be
    null and void.
    Titles will be subject to Part XIII of the Land Act, 1924.
    The lands are described for the general information of in-
    tending bidders, who are recommended, nevertheless, to make
